A rainy afternoon at Mezze9 in Thane, that serves alcohol at MRP!

Mezze9, a restaurant and bar located in Thane is a new launch in the area and is gaining popularity for serving alcohol on MRP all days. This is how we spent one afternoon there!

In a quaint street of Ram Krishna Nagar, in Thane, lies a newly unfurled contemporary-styled and quirky restaurant and bar named Mezze9 that we visited recently. Call it the enchanting charm of the monsoon that the lawn right outside the Vits Sharnam - a residential hotel in which the place is located - was drenched due to heavy downpours refining lush greenery by the time of our visit and we just could not help but anticipate how tempting the whole area would be even in the summers.

Located inside the hotel, Mezze9 embodies the quirk essence popular among youngsters with the aesthetic wood-and-white theme, minimalistic decor throughout, and some of the funkiest portraits saying, 'Bhai Sutta Kahan Hai'! What stands out from the mentioned setting is a specific seating area with floor mattresses within the glass door from three sides with natural plants kept inside. A few of the seats outside this area are also set with large glass windows overlooking the road, the entrance to the place, and the lawn — which looked mesmerizing during our visit owing to the rain pouring.

A blend of Indian and international cuisines

Apart from the interior, a unique thing about Mezze9 is that, even in their limited menu, an array of Indian and various international flavours is served from their kitchen. From Indian street food to Middle Eastern, Italian and even Mexican is served at Mezze9. Talking about the richness of the food, we liked their Penne Masala Arrabiatta, which owned a perfect touch of creaminess, Farmers Pizza, another flawless and absolute blend of veggies in the thick crust, and Bora Bora - a thick and good sweet rich-in-Pineapple mocktail. Now that we mentioned the drinks, what turned out to be even more appealing to us is that the alcohol is served here at the MRP (Maximum Retailing Price) — every day!

But this is not the end and as mentioned about the diverse menu, it was unlikely for us to not devour in the Indian food here. So, we relished the Cheese Stuffed Mushrooms, a dish that offered an average simple taste. But the simplicity broke with another dish we tried, Dumplings that, although, looked appealing with the wasp all around after opening the Wanton steamer bamboo box and had much soft coating but the spicy filling can be too much for a few to handle. Being in Bombay and not tasting the dishes with the word 'Bombay' just does not seem right and hence, we also tried their Bombay Biryani, a mild spicy rice dish with veggies and cottage cheese which was enough for us to complete the meal. However, in actuality, we called it a day with Sizzling Brownie, on which was poured the hot chocolate syrup making it both tempting and delicious.

While Mezze9 attempts its best to include aesthetics, elegance, quirk, and even liveliness within the small space, it might turn out a disappointment for non-veg lovers seeking a bar there. Moreover, located on the mezzanine floor in Vits Sharnam, it might go unnoticed among people even after visiting the property as their other restaurant is located on the ground floor and is much more visible. Having said that, visiting Mezze9 surely does not disappoint and leaves one with a stomach full of a variety of flavours to cherish for as long as one tongue feels the essence. Plus, the affordable alcohol certainly makes every hour a happy hour!
