Head to Cafe Free India in Lower Parel, Mumbai for good food and witty decor!

Cafe Free India is all about vintage vibes, a dash of sarcasm, and a scrumptious menu for almost every taste bud.

Located near the very famous Kamala Mills of Lower Parel, Cafe Free India derives its name from the days of freedom struggle in India. At that time many cafes were named Cafe Bharat or Hindoostan Cafe. Some of which still exist in the fort area and the name behind this one pays homage to those. The ambiance here is very old school and has a vintage vibe. The menu here holds a dish for everyone whether you are a fan of desi or videshi food.

Witty Frames

As soon as you enter the restaurant you'll spot numerous photo frames on the walls. All of these have very funny and witty quotes. 'We have beer as cold as your ex's heart' is one that we personally loved. If you are here with a group of mates who love sarcasm and quotable memes then you'll have a giggle on most of them.

A Crispy Start

After admiring the quotes we ordered some food from the menu which has Continental, Asian, North Indian, and fast food. We started on a lighter note by ordering the onion rings which were served in a fancy wooden stand and were very crispy. The veggie nugget was filled with corn, capsicum, and cheese on the other hand and both starters tasted well with the jalapeno sauce.

Grilled & Godfather

Next, we went for their best seller Godfather burger which was very huge for one person to finish if you have a low appetite. It was an aloo patty filled with veggies and sauces burger and tasted very well. The grilled cottage cheese with mashed potato was soft and the smoky flavor of the grill was just spot on. You can try it if you like your food to be piquant. If you like Indian food you must have their biryani because it is simply amazing.

Drinks & Desserts

The Bar section which again started with punny posters and signages served some delicious drinks. The Queens Necklace cocktail which represents Mumbai's marine drive with its tangy flavors and sweet and sour Kalakhatta for non-alcoholics are the ones we tried and recommend. Loaded choco truffle cake to end the meal on a chocolaty note.
