1. A new variant of Omicron detected


A new and fast mutating variant of Omicron has been reported by the Gujarat Biotechnology Research Centre after the centre detected the first case of this sub-variant in India. The variants BF.7 and BA.5.1.7 are the causes of the surge in COVID-19 cases in China, and the variants are expected to have great transmissibility.

2. Hyderabad gets ‘World Green City’ award


Hyderabad has become the first city to win an international award of ‘World Green Cities Awards 2022’, beating Paris. The AIPH World Green City Awards held in South Korea received various entries, but Hyderabad topped the category ‘Living Green for Inclusive Growth and Economic Recovery’, outranking 18 cities.

3. India gets the first indigenously made aluminum freight train rake


The first-ever indigenously manufactured aluminum goods train rake was launched on Sunday from Bhubaneswar in Odisha. Made in collaboration with Besco Limited Wagon Division and aluminum major Hindalco, the rake has a lower carbon footprint.

4. Fifth Vande Bharat Express to be inaugurated next month


The fifth Vande Bharat Express train is likely to be launched on November 5 as a trial. The train will connect three cities. Starting from Chennai to Mysore via Bengaluru, the train will commence its operations on November 10. Recently, the fourth Vande Bharat Express was inaugurated between Delhi to Himachal Pradesh.

5. India’s first MBBS books in Hindi launched in Bhopal


Union Home Minister Amit Shah reveals the MBBS course books in Hindi for the first fine in Bhopal. Currently, only three subjects, Anatomy, Physiology, and Biochemistry, have been selected to be studied in the Hindi language. A group of A team of 97 experts has been working on translating the books at Gandhi Medical College in Bhopal.

6. Bengaluru vending machine gives idlis


An idli machine has been inaugurated in Bengaluru that dispenses hot idlis to people. Started in a restaurant, one can place an order for their idlis by scanning the application code and paying online. The menu of the machine also includes vada and even podi idli.
