The Indira Gandhi International Airport of Delhi has been ranked the best in India and South Asia by Skytrax World Airport Awards. This apart, the airport has also been ranked 37 among the top 50 best airports in the world. The feat has been received for the fourth time in a row.

2. Taj hotel named the strongest hotel brand in the world

As per the latest report of the consultancy "Brand Finance", Taj has been named the world's strongest hotel brand for the year 2022 in the 'Hotels 50 2022' annual report. Taj received an overall Brand Strength Index of 88.9 out of 100 for customer familiarity, employee satisfaction, corporate reputation, and world-class customer service.

3. Tirupati to get India's largest cancer hospital

Tirupati is soon going to get the country's largest cancer hospital as the Andhra Pradesh Comprehensive Cancer Care (APCCC) project has proposed the plan with 100 beds in total. The hospital will specialize in pediatric cancer care,  bone marrow transplantations, and cancer genome research. The plan is aimed at making Tirupati a medical hub.

4. Rs. 500 may be given to those who share photos of wrongly parked vehicles

Speaking at the Industrial Decarbonization Summit 2022(IDS-2022), the union transport and highways minister, Nitin Gadkari has indicated a proposal to levy a fine of 1,000 on those wrongly parking their vehicles while rewarding Rs. 500 to those who click the pictures of such vehicles. The official announcement and the legal provision of the rule are, however, yet to be announced.

5. Government proposes 'Har Ghar Jhanda' campaign

The central government has announced for 'Har Ghar Jhanda campaign' under which people will be encouraged to hoist the national flag over their homes on this Independence Day. The initiative is a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM), commemorating 75 years of India's independence.

6. Bengaluru airport bagged 'best regional airport in India'

The 2022, Skytrax World Airport Awards that awarded Delhi as the best airport, also gave Bengaluru airport the title of Best Regional Airport in India and South Asia. Kempegowda International Airport got the recognition after votes from the passengers. Later, the airport took to Twitter to thank the passengers.

7. Neeraj Chopra wins Gold in Kuortane Games

Neeraj Chopra has made the country proud once again by winning Gold at Kuortane Games in Finland in Javelin. He got the win only in the first attempt after throwing 86.69m. However, due to rain, Chopra fell during his third row. On the other hand, this is the first gold won by Chopra this year.

8. Pragati Maidan tunnel and five underpasses inaugurated

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 1.3 km long Pragati Maidan tunnel along with five underpasses in Delhi's Mathura Road. The project cost Rs. 920 crores. The place will also welcome school children for educational tours to teach them art, culture, and festivals of the country.

9. First Dark Sky Reserve to be opened in Ladakh soon

A dedicated part of Changthang Wildlife Sanctuary at Hanle in Ladakh is set to become India's first Dark Sky Reserve. Not only the site will host activities to promote astronomy tourism, but it is also likely to give a boost to local tourism and the economy through science.

10. Rajasthan becomes the first state to launch Sky Astro tourism

The Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot, has announced the introduction of Night Sky Astro Tourism in all 33 districts of the state. The capital, Jaipur, alone has four popular venues for stargazing, namely, Jantar Mantar, Amber Fort, University of Maharaja, and Jawahar Kala Kendra.
