1. Tribal weightlifter wins Silver at Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships

Jhilli Dalabehera, the 22-year- old from Mayurbhanj district, a tribal belt in Odisha has made the country proud by winning a Silver medal at the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships 2021, held in Uzbekistan. She has received the medal in women's 49 kg by lifting a total weight of 167 kg.

2. Section 144 imposed in Lucknow for New Year and Christmas

To curb the spread of Coronavirus that is likely to increase amid Christmas and New Year celebrations, the Lucknow government has imposed section 144 in the city. According to this, the movement of more than two people at one place has been barred and one will have to take permission from the police for the movement till January 5, 2022.

3. Sanket Sargar wins Gold at Commonwealth Weightlifting Championship

Sanket Mahadev Sargar, the 21-year-old has bagged a Gold medal at the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championship in the 55 kg snatch category. The win has come after he lifted 113 kg in the event. Sargar has already secured one national record for lifting 108 kg.

4. Veteran travels 230 km to pay homage to his comrades of 1971 war

The 82-year-old veteran and retired army personnel, Subedar Jai Singh travelled 230 km on his old 'moped' from Punjab to Kashmir to pay homage to his friends from the 1971 Indo-Pak war. The native of Punjab's Hoshiyarpur's district and the group had fought in the Battle of Chhamb in the Akhnoor-Jaurian border of the LOC.

5. 9-year-old boy front Bengal gets an award at Greece Festival

Arif Shaikh, the 9-year-old boy has received an award for the best young actor in the child's performance (boy) at the 24th Olympia International Film Festival in Greece. Arif has played the character of Safikul in a feature film that shows the aftermath of the Babri demolition and the following Bombay blasts.
