For the upcoming Durga Puja celebrations, several organizations have joined hands to make it easier for the elderly and specially-abled people to attend the pandals by making arrangements for them. Accordingly, there will be a separate entry and exit gate for them and a ramp to reach the pandal. Apart from this, wheelchairs and a specially-designed braille facility will also be installed.

2. Assam's traditional brew gets GI tag

Wine made of Judima rice, which is popular among the Dimasa tribe of Assam, has become the first traditional brew of the Northeast to receive a Geographical Indication tag (GI). The wine is prepared with sticky rice, steamed, and mixed with traditional herbs.

3. Bengaluru gets 31 women officers to monitor crime against women and children

Bengaluru police have inducted 31 specially-trained women police officers who will monitor crime against women and children in the city and will also provide counselling sessions. The officers will also create mass awareness about the women and child-related legal provisions.

4. Jharkhand villagers build roads on their own

Noticing that the government was not responding to their appeal to build roads in their village, residents of Simdega built the road on their own. The villagers were facing many troubles in accessing healthcare facilities due to the poor roads and sometimes patients were forced to walk to the hospital since ambulances, cars, and other vehicles used to get stuck on the road. For this, many villagers carried construction materials while many offered free labour.
