1. Mid-day meal to be served on dining tables in MP
In an attempt to serve the meals in a dignified way, the Madya Pradesh government has decided to install dining tables in the government schools so that the children could be refrained from sitting and eating on the grounds and mats. The scheme will be launched in the Guna district of the state, being the first one, and the facility will be made of cement and concrete. A total of Rs 50,000 has been allocated to each school for this.
2. India to get its first electric highway
Taking a step towards preserving the environment, the central government is planning to construct an electric highway between Delhi and Jaipur and is already in talks with a foreign company for this. Apart from this, talks are also underway for an electric highway between Delhi-Mumbai. The highways will also have the facilities to recharge electric vehicles.
3. IRCTC's new lounge in Delhi starts with various amenities
IRCTC has opened a new lounge in the nation's capital railway station. It has been set up on the first floor of Platform number one in the New Delhi Railway station, which comes with various facilities. The lounge has recliners, wi-fi, and a spacious seating area. It also has a cafe to serve the needs of the waiting passengers.
4. Legal clinic for transgender persons starts in Chandigarh
Samta Nyay Kendra' a legal clinic for transgender persons, has been opened in Chandigarh's New Indira colony in Manimajra. The clinic will have panel lawyers and paralegal volunteers that will be appointed from the transgender community. While the clinic will function only on Wednesday and Saturday, the aim will be to ensure that the community exercises its fundamental rights.
5. Teachers from Kerala build 150 houses for homeless
It had started with Sister Lissie Chakkalkal, the Principal of Our Ladies Convent Girls School, and Lily Paul, a teacher from the same school building a house for the student who had lost her father and had no shelter. However, the duo did not stop since then and started a project called, 'Our House Challenging Project'. They have made 150 homes serving the families of 80 underprivileged children.
