The men's hockey team has bagged the fourth medal for India by defeating Germany at the Tokyo Olympics. The win has come after more than 30 years. The last Olympic medal won by India in hockey, the national sport of the country was in 1980 during the Olympics held in Moscow.

2. UP becomes the first state to give 5 crore vaccines

UP has become the first state to achieve the target of 5 crore COVID-19 vaccines in India. According to the reports, more than 22 lakh vaccines were given to people on August 3, and the state is administering 5 to 6 lakh doses daily. The CM Yogi Adityanath, on this success, took to Twitter to congratulate authorities and citizens.

3. Odisha man builds 3 km road through hills in 30 years

Before 30 years, the locals of Tulubi village of Odisha's Nayagarh district had petitioned the government to build a road for which they had termed it "impossible". Mantu Kumar, the 32-year-old from Surafganj village in Madhubani district, has started a campaign in the rural and semi-rural areas to educate people about the scientific processes and remove superstitions. He had launched 'Science for Society' along with 20 friends in 2006, and since then, he has been visiting schools, colleges, and other places in Bihar, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Sikkim, Mizoram, Maharashtra, and other states to spread awareness.

5. Chennai dispensary vaccinates stray dogs against Parvovirus

The Chennai-based Besant Memorial Animal Dispensary has been vaccinating stray dogs to protect them from Parvovirus and has administered the doses to 700 dogs as of now. However, the dispensary also caters to cats, horses, donkeys, cows, bulls, and some other animals. They have the current facilities of 25 animal patients, and the clinic also does birth control surgery, tumor removal, and amputations.
