Securing the third medal for India, the 23-year-old has won the Bronze medal in the women's Welterweight Boxing semifinals against Turkey's Busenaz Surmeneli on August 4. Before this, Mirabai Chanu had got silver in weightlifting, and P.V. Sindhu has bagged bronze in badminton.

2. Government to set up 1000 'Khelo India' centres across India

To boost the spirit of sports in the country, the ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has decided to establish 1000 'Khelo India' centers countrywide. Under this scheme, the athletes will also be provided with the financial assistance of Rs. 6.28 lakh. There are 360 centers already notified under the scheme as of now.

Delhi government under CM Arvind Kejriwal has launched an initiative, 'Delhi@2047', that aims to make Delhi, global city by 2047. Under the initiative, the government will be working with corporates and citizen groups for infrastructure, transport networks, solid waste management, and fighting air pollution.

4. UP student scores 100% marks in Class 10 exams

The 15-year-old Kumar Vishwas Singh, who hails from Ghazipur district of UP, has scored 100% marks in the total five subjects in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) of Class 10 exams. He gives credit to the preparation done in the pandemic and wants to join the armed forces, for which he is also preparing for the entrance exam.

5. Dr. Aqsa Shaikh, the first transwoman to head COVID-19 centre

Dr. Aqsa Shaikh becomes the first transwoman to head a COVID-19 center at Hamdard Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (HIMSR) as a nodal officer. The 38-year-old is also an associate professor of Community Medicine at the center and one of the co-investigators in clinical trials in the Sputnik-V vaccine.

6. Tamil Nadu postman climbs hill every month to give pension to an elderly woman

Christuraja, who single-handedly manages the Papanasam Upper Dam, branch post office crosses Kalakkad Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve every month to give pension to the 110-year-old woman Kuttiyammal. She was assured a sum of Rs 1,000 by Collector V Vishnu when he visited Injikuzhi tribal hamlet, where she lives. Christuraja travels by boat and then treks 25 km to reach her house. His journey starts at 7 a.m. and gets over at 5 p.m.

7. Bride does push-ups wearing a lehenga
