1. Assam girl wins the best actress at Ottawa Film Festival
Shiva Rani Kalita, a 22-year-old from Baligaon village, has won the award for the best actress at the 4th Ottawa Indian Film Festival. The award ceremony was held online between June 22 to 26 in Canada, where Shiva bagged the honour for director Kripal Kalita's film, 'Bridge', which portrays the floods in Assam.
2. Aditi Ashok becomes first Indian woman golfer to qualify for Tokyo Olympics
The 23-year-old Bengaluru resident, Aditi Ashok has become the first Indian woman golfer to have qualified for Tokyo Olympics which is going to start in July. The International Gold Federation informed about her selection on Tuesday.
3. Seema Punia, a Discus Thrower, qualifies for Tokyo Olympics
The next on the list joining Tokyo Olympics to represent India is Seema Punia. This 37-year-old from Uttar Pradesh has been a bronze medalist at the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games. This time, she got her name for the Tokyo Olympics with the qualification mark of 63.50m.
4. Madhya Pradesh gets Asia's longest high-speed track
The world's fifth and Asia's longest high-speed test track has been inaugurated at National Automative Test Track in Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh. It is 11.3 km long which has two semi-circular curves where vehicles can drive up to 375 kmph on curves.
5. Jharkhand gets radio classes to reach out to children in rural areas
The School Education and Literacy Department in Jharkhand has started conducting radio classes aiming to reach children in rural areas. The classes are organised five days a week, between 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. through FM channels.
6. Young man takes responsibility for 28 children who lost parents due to COVID
A social activist and an engineer, Jai Sharma has taken the responsibility of educating and providing food to 28 kids who lost their parents due to Coronavirus. This 26-year-old from Uttarakhand has further plans to adopt 100 kids who are going through the same phase.
