With the beginning of the unlocking process in the city, the Delhi government also allowed home delivery of alcohol through a mobile app or online portals.
After a month of lockdown owing to the second wave of Coronavirus, the Delhi government started the unlocking process while also allowing the home delivery of alcohol through a mobile app or an online portal.
After the orders, both Indian and foreign liquor will be availed by people while sitting in the comfort of their homes. However, delivery to any hostel, office or institution will not be possible.
As per the Delhi Excise (Amendment) Rules, 2021, only L-13 license holders will be able to deliver alcohol to the residential addresses. The government, though, has not yet announced a separate app or a portal as of now.
Delhi liquor shops had seen a huge crowd of buyers after the government had announced lockdown. The move has, thus, come to reduce the crowd on the few open liquor shops. Moreover, liquor manufacturers had also approached the government to allow the home delivery of alcohol after the lockdown was imposed.
The positivity rate in Delhi is dipping down for the past few days. The city recorded 648 COVID cases on Monday.
There are some states which have already allowed the home delivery of alcohol like Maharashtra, Punjab, Chhattisgarh, and West Bengal.
