Yamuna River is spilling snow-like toxic froth once again!

This thick layer of snow-like froth has residential and industrial wastes in it and possesses danger to the local people.

If you are in Delhi and planning to visit the Yamuna river, then be ready for something shocking. Yamuna river is spilling toxic foam once again, and it looks a lot like snow. This frothy foam stinks too and can be dangerous for the people living nearby.

This snow-like foam is due to the release of toxic wastes into the river. The irresponsible dumping of waste is also responsible for it. On Tuesday the localities saw a thick layer of this bubbling foam on the surface of the Yamuna river. This may look surprising to many people, but it is not happening for the first time. In 2019 also, something very similar had happened.

In November 2019, when the devotees had gathered for the annual Chhath Puja, they had witnessed a thick, white frothy layer on the surface of the river and also felt high levels of toxic pollution too. This incident had gone viral on the internet back then too and raised serious questions about the rising pollution in the city.

Similarly, during the Ganesh Chaturthi in 2018, a large number of Ganesh idols coated with toxic chemicals like cadmium, lead, and carbon were immersed in the water body. These idols are made of plaster of Paris, and they don't dissolve in the water.

We hope to see the Yamuna river in better condition soon, because these frequent incidents are quite worrisome, and it's high time we do something about it.
