Jaisalmer's desert festival is happening with all its glory!

Held every year in the month of February, Jaisalmer's desert festival is celebrated 3 days prior to the full moon. It will start on the 24th of February and will end on the 27th of the same.

Jaisalmer's desert fest is an amalgamation of Rajasthan's folk tunes, cultural and musical performances. This Jaisalmer's desert festival has been divided into 4 days. Day 1 is going to kickstart with a grand aarti at Gadisar lake. After the aarti, a heritage walk will take place from Gadisar lake to the Lakshminath temple. Kailash Kher is going to be there and will perform at Shaheed Poonam Singh Stadium.

Day 2 consists of programs like Shobha Yatra, various Moomal competitions, Ghumar, puppet shows, and an army band display. The third day comprises Jashn-e-Jiashan, camel race, and performances by local artists. The last day is going to be a great highlight since it will host kite shows, cattle shows, camel dances, firework displays, and much more.

The festival did not happen last year due to the pandemic along with other public events. However, this year it will happen with safety measures and COVID prevention guidelines.

Other than the folk performances, fascinating competitions, and beauty pageants, traditional handicrafts will be displayed too during the festival.

“Rajasthan is popular for its colourful culture. Our festivals are a reflection of the same. These have traditionally attracted visitors from all over the world,” said Nishant Jain, Director, Department of Tourism, Rajasthan. He also said, “Unfortunately, the pandemic of COVID halted these for almost a year, however, due to effective control on the disease in the state, we are now confidently opening up with safety measures.”
