Gulmarg in Kashmir gets Igloo Cafe and we are simply loving it. Check out how it looks from the inside!
Igloo? Yes, Igloo! The existence of something you had studied in books in school. India's first igloo cafe in Gulmarg, Kashmir is giving a real-time experience to the tourists after it opened around Republic day this year.
The restaurant is operating in minus 18-degree celsius being the minimum temperature. Igloo restaurant, which has been built from snow, is 22-feet-wide and 15-feet high.
The fun and selfie spot for the visitors has been made in a total of 15 days with the help of 20 workers. The interior of the Igloo restaurant is even more surprising as it can easily accommodate 18 people at the same time.
The restaurant has eight tables where visitors can enjoy lunch and dinner. Biryani, Chicken Tikka, Kashmiri Kehwa, coffee and other food items are available here.
Idea emerged in snow!
Do you know how the idea of making an igloo restaurant came to the mind of its owner, Waseem Shah? It's all about Europe vibes! Since Shah had travelled to places like Switzerland, Norway, Finland, where such structures are available, he thought of creating one in India. After all, India also has an abundance of snow!
The owner keeps the makeshift door of the igloo open at night. Doing this helps the snow last longer and prevents from melting down.
Shah is hopeful that the restaurant will make it to the Limca book of records as Asia's biggest igloo.
In addition, the move can be seen as a positive step towards tourism which is already affected in Kashmir due to the revocation of Article 370 and the ongoing pandemic.
Kashmir attracts a lot of tourists for its beautiful rivers, lakes and natural landscape.
