Kolkata people, take your friends to this new hangout place as Kolkata gets 'happy zone' in New Town.

The wait for a fun place is over for all Kolkata residents as Kolkata gets 'happy zone' in New Town. The 'happy zone' has food stalls, community space and colourful fencing.

As the name suggests, the 'happy zone' has been set up to make New Town, a "happy hangout place". It is located at the New Town bus stand at the first intersection of the main arterial road. The beautiful project was carried by the New Town Kolkata Development Authority (NKDA).

Kolkata gets a 'happy zone' to make the city more lively!

With an initiative to provide a green and happy environment, the zone also has an air-quality checking device. The device is capable of showing the ambient air quality at any given time. Along with this, community space for ‘adda’ and a small open-air area is also available.

However, the best part lies with colourful fencing and signboards. But the beauty of 'happy zone' does not end here. The pavement of the nearby bus stand has also been cleaned to match it with the 'happy zone'.

Earlier, Newtown had received a rating of 6.4 out of 10 in happiness quotient from IIT-Kharagpur. The IIT, along with Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (HIDCO) is working on making New Town as 'Happy City'.

The New Town will also get smart street and smart garden soon.
