The hotel has received 2,500 coins of Rs 10 since the beginning of the campaign.

In a new campaign, a restaurant in Banglore offers a 10% cut in the bill if the entire amount is paid in Rs 10 coins.

Situated at Nrupathunga Road, inside the YMCA compound, hotel Nisarga Grand has started the offer from October 1. The move came after realizing that people find it difficult to use coins as several retail businesses are reluctant to accept it as payment. People often face this problem even when the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) consider Rs 10 coins legal.

Why this restaurant in Banglore offers a 10% cut in the bill?

The proprietor of the hotel told TOI that organizations are rejecting coins as RBI has minimized the printing of Rs 10 notes. The major sufferer in such a situation is the common people who don't get to use the coins. He also stated that the main motive behind the campaign is to motivate other hotels and retailers to circulate the coins.

According to the officials, the hotel has received 2,500 coins of Rs 10 since the beginning of the campaign. They also told that people are much enthusiastic about it. And, they encountered a customer who went back to get 70 such coins to dine again and paid the bill. Apart from citizens, BBMP Commissioner, Manjunatha Prasad, has also appreciated the initiative.
