Pune! It's time to rejoice! Our very first three-coach Pune metro has finally arrived in Pimpri-Chinchwad on Sunday! The metro arrived in a 12-axle truck from Nagpur and was happily welcomed with Dhol Tasha.
These coaches will be parked at the Sant Tukaram Nagar station. The Pune Metro Line 1 will have 14 stations, 5 underground and 9 elevated and Sant Tukaram Nagar station will be second in line.
Initially, the Metro will operate with three coaches and depending on the traffic and requirements, the number of coaches will be increased.
The project work including the civil work and the arrival of Pune metro was completed in time and is a huge achievement and a kickstart for the project.
Each train, with three coaches, holds the capacity of 950 to 970 passengers. As a norm, one coach will be reserved for women.
