Well, there is a large protected area that comprises one or even more national parks and wildlife sanctuaries. It also consists of human settlements. This area is called a biosphere reserve. India's biosphere reserves are popular for boasting and protecting flora and fauna along with the local communities living in these areas. So, for the thrill-seeking travellers, here are the most scenic biosphere reserves in India that you must explore and capture with your camera! 

Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve

One of the most beautiful and scenic biosphere reserves in India, Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve covers the states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka. The lush green forests of the Western Ghats capture attention as it is the largest protected forest area in India. The reserve also includes Mudumalai National Park, Mukurthi National Park, Sathyamangalam Wildlife Sanctuary, Nagarhole National Park, Bandipur National Park, Silent Valley National Park, Aralam Wildlife Sanctuary, Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary and Karimpuzha Wildlife Sanctuary and end number of picturesque viewpoints!

Great Nicobar Biosphere Reserve

When we talk about beauty, we just can't ignore the Great Nicobar Biosphere Reserve. Located on the island of Great Nicobar, this reserve houses two national parks namely, Campbell Bay National Park and Galathea National Park. This reserve is also popular for being home to one of the species, which is in a vulnerable state towards extinction, Nicobar scrubfowl. Other than that, the reserve offers exquisite flora and fauna. 

Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve

Located in Chamoli district, the Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve is home to the popular UNESCO World Heritage Site, Nanda Devi National Park, also known as Nanda Devi and Valley of Flowers National Park. If you are travelling here, there’s a good chance you'll encounter hundreds of rare and endemic species of birds, as well as medicinal plants.

Kanchenjunga Biosphere Reserve and National Park

Being both a national park and biosphere reserve, Kanchenjunga National Park is a beauty you can never forget to cherish. The Kanchenjunga National Park was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site (mixed heritage) in July 2016. Needless to say, it has the scenic Mount Kanchenjunga, the third-highest mountain in the world. 

Nokrek Biosphere Reserve

Situated in the West Garo Hills district, the Nokrek Biosphere Reserve also houses the Nokrek National Park. Renowned for its biodiversity conservation, this is one of the few places in the world where the Indian wild orange, the progenitor of all citrus species, was discovered. The forests here are home to a variety of flora and fauna, offering a serene glimpse of nature.

Sundarbans Biosphere Reserve

The massive Sundarban Biosphere Reserve is one of the most crucial mangrove areas in the world. The Sundarbans is home to the Royal Bengal tiger, a rare and thrilling sight for travellers. Located in the Ganges delta, the reserve shares its borders with the neighbouring country of Bangladesh. It spans across the South 24 Parganas and North 24 Parganas districts of West Bengal, offering scenic views, points, and peaks.
