From Kalin Bhaiya in Mirzapur which is set in the state of Uttar Pradesh, to Rudra in Stree 2 which showcases the historically rich places of Madhya Pradesh, Pankaj Tripathi in the true sense has charmed everyone with his natural and seamless acting. Just like his roots in Gopalganj in Bihar, his movie locations are shot in some of the most revered places in India. Let's have a look at Tripathiji's movies and series locations.
Bhopal, Chanderi - Stree 2
The latest horror comedy film Stree 2 has performed exceptionally well in the theatres and Pankaj Tripathi has aced the role of Rudra. The movie was shot in Bhopal and Chanderi in Madhya Pradesh. Many haunted scenes were filmed in the Chanderi Fort, a 150-year-old Haveli, Kati Ghati, Raja Rani Mahal and Jageshwari Temple. All these places are historically and architecturally fabulous, having stories behind them all.
Varanasi, Lucknow, Gorakhpur - Mirzapur
As we eagerly await the arrival of Mirzapur Season 4, let's revisit the iconic locations where the first two seasons of the series, featuring our very own Kaleen Bhaiya (Pankaj Tripathi), were filmed. The majestic Azmatgarh Palace, also known as Moti Jheel Mahal, served as the onscreen residence of Kaleen Bhaiya’s family. In a scene where Guddu (Ali Fazal) visits his sister, an aerial view of Lucknow is shown. Other locations, such as Gorakhpur, Jaunpur, Azamgarh, and Ghazipur, have also featured as filming spots for the series.
Tower Chowk, Shree Mahakaleshwar Temple, Kal Bhairav Temple - OMG 2
As OMG 2 is a comedy-drama film based on spirituality, there are a lot of Hindu temples appearing in the movie. Tower Chowk, which is one of the famous spots of Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh is featured in the film. Other temples such as Shree Mahakaleshwar Temple, Kal Bhairav Temple and Ram Ghat are also visible in several scenes.
Hotel Royal Rest, Mandawa Kothi - Mimi
The Kriti Sanon and Pankaj Tripathi starrer Mimi was majorly shot in Rajasthan. The scene where Kriti is seen sitting on the stairs of a haveli is actually a Hotel. It's the Hotel Royal Rest in Rajasthan's Mandawa where several other scenes are shot. Also, Kriti's house shown in the movie is the Mandawa Kothi in the same town.
Chunar, Villages of Bihar - Gangs of Wasseypur
One of Pankaj's best works, Gangs of Wasseypur is shot in his homestate Bihar. Major portions of the film were shot in villages near Bihar. Chunar is at the epicentre of the shoot where a lot of scenes are shot. Nawazuddin Siddiqui's house is also present in this village.
Mumbai, Bhopal - Ludo
Several important shooting scenes of the movie were shot in Latakunj, an old bungalow in Mumbai's Andheri. While some of the scenes are filmed in Sanjay Gandhi National Park in Borivali some parts of the movie are shot in Mumbai's Mira Road. Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh is yet another location where the shooting of this movie took place.
