Raigad Fort

Serving as the capital of the Maratha empire and the site of Shivaji Maharaj's coronation in 1674, Raigad Fort is one of the well-known Maratha forts. Raigad’s commanding hilltop position offered natural defence and strategic oversight.

Rajgad Fort

Before the Raigad fort, Rajgad Fort was the capital of the Maratha empire. It was pivotal in early Maratha governance, blending military design with its caves, hidden water sources, and narrow passages with cultural and administrative functions.

Torna Fort

Also known as ‘Prasidhgad’, Torna Fort was the first fort captured by Shivaji at the age of 16. This victory marked the beginning of his campaign to establish a sovereign state. Its location provided a strategic advantage for launching further expeditions into the rugged terrains of the region.

Sinhagad Fort
