Indie Music

The Indian indie scene never stands still. Every month, new voices rise with songs that cut through the noise of routine playlists and leave behind echoes that feel personal. October brings a mix of raw emotions, cross-genre experiments, and stories set to melodies that are as unique as the artists themselves. These tracks aren’t chasing the charts; they’re chasing truth — and that’s what makes them worth listening to.

Unspoken – Krishna Pandey

Krishna Pandey’s Unspoken is for anyone who has struggled to say what their heart truly feels. The indie-pop ballad explores unexpressed emotions and the bittersweet ache of holding back. With gentle guitar riffs and an emotive vocal delivery, the song builds an atmosphere of intimacy. Pandey has described the track as a piece of himself — tender, hesitant, and honest — making it a must-hear for lovers of heartfelt indie songwriting.

Dono Hi Dono – Aanshika & Rahul Shah

Aanshika and Rahul Shah bring a duet that aches with quiet heartbreak. Dono Hi Dono is about two people who know they must part ways but still carry each other in their silences. The song’s stripped-down instrumentation — acoustic guitar, subtle strings, light percussion — keeps the focus on their evocative vocals. It’s a raw, minimalistic piece that captures the pain of letting go with startling simplicity.

Space – Saroj Kashyap

Bengaluru-based artist Saroj Kashyap released Space, a track that oscillates between acoustic intimacy and bursts of rock energy. It’s a reflection on emotional limbo — being close yet distant, connected yet apart. Kashyap’s commanding voice, paired with dynamic arrangements, makes Space a song that feels both expansive and personal. For fans of indie rock with depth, this one is a standout.

Turbulence – Arora

Arora, a rising Punjabi/Hindi indie artist, is making waves with Turbulence. The song has already crossed 100,000 streams and is gaining traction with listeners across India and beyond. With lush production and lyrics that explore uncertainty and self-discovery, Turbulence sits comfortably between indie pop and fusion. Arora’s fearless approach and fresh sound cement her as one of the most exciting indie voices to watch.

Vizhi Veekura – Sai Abhyankkar

From the thriving Tamil indie circuit comes Vizhi Veekura by Sai Abhyankkar. Known for blending folk melodies with modern jazz and pop elements, Sai has carved out a unique niche for himself. This track, with its soulful vocals and layered production, is both experimental and deeply rooted in Tamil musical traditions. His growing popularity proves that indie music in India is flourishing well beyond the mainstream Bollywood-Hindi space.

Jetpack Joyride - Ritvik Virmani

Ritvik Virmani’s Jetpack Joyride captures the thrill of reckless decisions and the chaos that sometimes feels like freedom. With gritty guitars, punchy drums, and a pulsing groove, the track channels late-night impulse and wild energy. It’s a bold, genre-blending piece that leans into the tension between control and abandon, continuing Virmani’s exploration of sound and storytelling.

Ctrl Alt Feelings - Space Salt

Space Salt’s Ctrl Alt Feelings is a reflective six-track EP that offers a soft landing in an emotionally fast-paced world. Blending Hindi-pop with introspective lyricism, the duo leans into themes of vulnerability, pause, and quiet renewal. Each song unfolds like a personal reset — honest, unhurried, and tuned into the emotional landscape of young listeners navigating life and feeling everything all at once.

Jism Ya Rooh by Surabhi Dashputra

Surabhi Dashputra, the soulful singer-songwriter who won hearts with More Sajan Remastered — which crossed over 1 million views on YouTube — returns with her emotionally stirring ghazal Jism Yaa Rooh, released under the UK-based label Aart Sense Records. Known for her emotive storytelling, Surabhi both wrote and sang the track, exploring the poetic tension between body and soul with rare intimacy. Her lyrical contribution to Dhul Gaye, sung by Arijit Singh, further cemented her place in the independent music scene. With Jism Yaa Rooh, Surabhi steps into the spotlight again as a solo artist, adding to her growing repertoire of originals. Fans can look forward to her upcoming duet Kaarigar, promising yet another chapter in her evolving artistry.

ShiShi's Krishna Theme

New York-based musician, producer, and meditation practitioner ShiShi unveiled his album Indigo on September 5, 2025, marking a bold shift from his electronica roots into rock. Preceded by a weekly August single rollout — “Dopamine Machine,” “Loser,” “The Light That Wakes Me,” “Grandfather,” and “Krishna’s Theme” — the album reflects ShiShi’s fearless creativity and genre-defying vision. Born to Indian parents and raised across China, Switzerland, and the U.S., ShiShi blends Indian classical traditions with electronica and now rock, creating a sound that transcends borders. Since gaining attention in 2017 with “Aarti,” a devotional electronic track reimagining Bollywood, he has released two acclaimed albums, Homecoming (2021) and Chrysalis (2022).
