Uber has announced the expansion of its Intercity service to more than 3,000 city-to-city routes across India. This marks a 50% increase in route coverage, aimed at meeting growing demand for long-distance road travel and improving access between both metro hubs and smaller cities. In a further move to promote outstation travel, Uber has also introduced a limited-period product—custom-designed Uber Intercity Motorhomes, available exclusively in the Delhi NCR region.

The expansion comes as India’s highway infrastructure continues to develop, encouraging more people to travel by road for short getaways, family visits, or business purposes. Uber’s investment into its Intercity product reflects this shift, with an emphasis on comfort, ease of use, and wider availability.

The most popular routes for Intercity travel over the past year included Mumbai–Pune, Delhi–Agra, Bangalore–Mysore, Lucknow–Kanpur, and Ahmedabad–Vadodara. Demand was highest during weekends and long holiday periods, with Fridays being the most preferred day to travel. Travellers commonly booked rides during early morning hours or in the quieter afternoon window between 2PM and 3PM. Festive periods such as Diwali, Holi, Eid, and the summer wedding season also saw significant spikes in Intercity bookings.

Round trips have become a preferred option for leisure journeys, pilgrimage visits, and event-related travel, while one-way rides continue to support visits to family and friends, business engagements, and airport or railway connectivity.

As part of the new campaign, Uber Intercity Motorhomes will be available for a limited period from 7 August to 6 September 2025, with bookings opening from 4 August via the Uber app. Users will be able to identify the motorhome offering through a dedicated icon. The vehicles will feature amenities such as a television, lavatory, microwave, and mini-refrigerator, and are designed to seat 4 to 5 passengers comfortably. Each vehicle will include both a driver and a helper, offering a more comprehensive travel experience.

These Motorhomes retain all existing features of the Intercity service, including advanced bookings via Uber Reserve, real-time tracking, multi-stop options, and 24x7 live support. The initiative aims to provide a new way for travellers to experience road trips—more private, flexible, and equipped for comfort.

With this expansion and campaign, Uber continues to explore how technology and service design can support evolving travel needs in India’s mobility landscape.
