This week saw significant developments in the startup landscape, with several companies securing major funding to boost their growth. While mergers and acquisitions were relatively few, investors have continued to show strong confidence in other sectors. Here’s a roundup of the latest funding and acquisition news.

Shoppin raises $1 million from InfoEdge Ventures

A fashion search engine platform, Shoppin has raised $1 million in a funding round from InfoEdge VenturesA. According to the announcements by the company, the funds will be used for hiring human resources, while also advancing proprietary technology, and driving growth.

Salad Days raises Rs. 30 crores in Series A funding

Salad Days, a healthy food brand, has raised Rs. 30 Crores from V3 Ventures and Client Associates Alternate Fund (CAAF) in a Series A funding round co-led by the investors. Reportedly, this is the company's first institutional funding round in 10+ years of operations, and the funds will be used to enhance infrastructure, expand omnichannel channels, and strengthen operational capabilities.

CHK raises $2.5 million by multiple investors

A footwear star-tup CHK, by the DealShare cofounder Sankar Bora has raised $2.5 million in funding from  Accel, jewellery retailer Bluestone, and some other individual investors. The company is planning to deploy the fresh funds to accelerate production while also strengthening its research and development (R&D) initiatives. 

Whizzo raises $4.2 million by Lightspeed

A materials science manufacturing company, Whizzo has secured $4.2 million in its seed round led by Lightspeed, where BEENEXT also participated. The funds will be used for driving advancements in materials science R&D and also establishing a design lab for fashion-engineered textiles while strengthening its supply chain.

TrackNOW raises funding from multiple investors

Fleet management and advanced telematic tracking solution star-tup trackNOW has secured an undisclosed amount in an extended seed funding round led by Yohan Poonawalla, Chairman of the Poonawalla Engineering Group, and Michelle Poonawalla, Managing Director of the Poonawalla Engineering Companies. The company is likely to focus on new store openings, with enhanced technological infrastructure, human resources, and elevated marketing initiatives. 

Mergers and acquisitions 

 - Microsoft is in talks to acquire TikTok, as per the US President Donald Trump.

 - Exicom has partnered with ChargeZone aiming to develop and deploy high power EV charging stations. 

 Other updates

 - Food chain McDonald’s is ready to set up first Global Capability Centre in Hyderabad by mid-2025.

-  Blinkit has partnered with the athleisure Nike to deliver gym accessories in Delhi NCR. 

- ⁠ Zepto has launched 10-min instant returns and exchange services. 

 - India is going to create its own Generative-AI model to be rolled out in a few months.
