The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India, has announced a collaboration with Google Cloud and Chaudhary Charan Singh University (CCSU), Meerut, to establish India’s first AI-enabled state university and develop a national framework for modernising higher education and vocational training through Cloud and AI technologies.

The initiative was unveiled at Google’s AI for Learning Forum in Delhi in the presence of Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge) for MSDE and Minister of State for the Ministry of Education, along with senior officials from both ministries. CCSU will serve as a national pilot institution, supporting the creation of scalable models for AI-led learning, administration, and skill development aligned with India’s Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.

As part of the collaboration, CCSU will work with Google Cloud to address administrative and academic challenges using the Gemini Enterprise platform. The project includes workflow automation, AI-enabled learning support, skill-gap analysis, and personalised AI tutors, with Placecom acting as the implementation partner for technical deployment and operational integration across the university ecosystem.

The initiative focuses on expanding access to AI-powered education beyond urban centres by supporting multilingual learning, improving teaching tools for faculty, and enabling operational efficiencies through intelligent automation. Insights from the CCSU pilot will inform the development of a National Best Practice Framework to guide India’s 50,000+ colleges and 1,200+ universities in adopting AI responsibly and self-credentialising as AI-enabled institutions.

Jayant Chaudhary,  Minister of State (I/C), MSDE and MoE, said, “To realize the vision of a Viksit Bharat, we must empower our entire educational ecosystem with digital tools and AI - from the students in the classroom to the educators leading them… Ultimately, we are working to modernize education so that a student’s success is defined by their talent and drive, ensuring they graduate not just with a degree, but with the high-demand skills to thrive in the workforce.”

Preeti Lobana, Country Manager and VP, Google India, said, “Google is deeply committed to supporting India’s vision of becoming a global AI hub… We are excited to work with MSDE and CCSU to demonstrate how technology can help unlock human potential at scale, with the goal of ensuring that every student, regardless of geography, gains access to world-class learning tools.”

This collaboration forms part of Google’s broader efforts to support responsible AI learning in India, including new AI-powered tools for students and educators and philanthropic support to strengthen public education platforms nationwide.
