Andhra Pradesh to set up a Data City and AI hubs
Andhra Pradesh is set to develop a Data City, housing data centres and artificial intelligence hubs near Visakhapatnam inspired by the Hitec City model of Hyderabad. The aim of these projects are to generate 20 lakh jobs. The initiative, spearheaded by IT minister Nara Lokesh, seeks to bolster the state's economy with support from Google and TCS among major investors.
Uttarakhand becomes the first state to implement the Uniform Civil Code in India

Uttarakhand has implemented the much talked Uniform Civil Code today, making it the first state in independent India to put into effect such a law. This means that a law seeks to establish a common set of legal provisions for all citizens, regardless of religion or community. It will standardise marriage, divorce, inheritance, property rights, and adoption laws. The rationale given for the law is that it will bring about ‘uniformity in the society and ensure equal rights and responsibilities for all citizens.’
Vandhe Bharat Express runs a successful trial from Katra to Srinagar

The specially designed Vande Bharat Express train for Kashmir conducted its first successful train run on the eve of Republic Day. The train, on its maiden trial run, arrived at the Srinagar station in the Nowgam area on the city outskirts of Katra in Jammu. Following this, the Jammu railway station announced, “Yatrigan kripya dhyan dein, Vande Bharat train sankhya 244027 Kashmir jane ke liye platform number ek par khadi hai.” Besides the regular features of the Vande Bharat trains, the J & K special trains will have advanced heating systems for operations in the sub-zero temperatures of the winter.
Nykaa expands with a new subsidiary in Oman

FSN E-Commerce Ventures, the parent company of online beauty retailer Nykaa, has launched a new subsidiary in Oman called Nysaa Cosmetics SPC. As a step-down subsidiary of FSN E-Commerce Ventures, Nessa International Holdings Limited will be the sole owner of this subsidiary. According to an. exchange filing, Nysaa Cosmeticstrate on selling cosmetics, fragrances, and other beauty and personal care items.
Government drafts rules for mandatory adoption of IST through 'One Nation One Time'
In an effort to standardise timekeeping, the government has proposed new regulations mandating that Indian Standard Time (IST) be used exclusively for all official and business reasons. The draft of the Legal Metrology (Indian Standard Time) Rules, 2024, aims to create a legal structure for consistent time practices, making IST the only recognised time reference for legal, administrative, commercial, and official documents. According to the draft rule, IST must be used as the only time reference in all fields, including finance, legal contracts, public administration, transportation, and commerce. A public consultation session has been launched by the Consumer Affairs Ministry, and comments are being accepted through February 14.
Mumbai Coastal Road to be fully opened for Mumbaikars by February
After the inauguration of the northbound bridge connecting the Mumbai Coastal Road with the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday said that with 94 per cent of the work completed, the Mumbai Coastal Road will be fully open to Mumbaikars upon the completion of the Prabhadevi connector in February, reported the PTI.

A cultural extravaganza that celebrated the rich and colourful legacy of folk and tribal forms of Bharat through the themes of Viksit Bharat, Virasat bhi Vikas bhi, and Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat was created by the Ministry of Culture and Sangeet Natak Akademi's magnificent performance, "Jayati Jai Mamah Bharatam" (JJMB). During this performance, India's rich heritage was showcased on a worldwide scale by more than 5,000 artists performing more than 50 folk and tribal dance genres.
Haryana's Shivangi Pathak hoists tricolour on Australia's Highest Peak on Republic Day

A 22-year-old mountaineer from Haryana marked India's 76th Republic Day in a unique way by hoisting the national flag on Mount Kosciuszko, the highest peak in Australia. Shivangi Pathak reached the summit of Mount Kojisco on Sunday marking her fourth out of the seven highest peaks across the continents. Her next goal is to scale Indonesia's highest peak, the Carstensz Pyramid.
