1. Ahmedabad to Delhi by train might take only 3.5 hours
Ahmedabad is all set to get a bullet train service to Delhi which is likely to make the travel time between the two cities just 3.5 hours. Currently, the travel time from the train is 12 hours approximately. The project by the Railways mentions that the Ahmedabad-Delhi bullet train is part of six new high-speed rail project plans by the government.
2. ISRO gets a breakthrough with lightweight Carbon-Carbon (C-C) nozzle for rocket engines
In a recent announcement today, ISRO announced that it has successfully developed a lightweight Carbon-Carbon (C-C) nozzle for rocket engines that marks a breakthrough in rocket engine technology. Accomplished by Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), this development promises enhancement of the vital parameters of rocket engines that include specific impulse, and thrust-to-weight ratios, that ultimately, boost the launching capacity of vehicles.
3. IISC designs hydrogel to remove microplastics from water
The researchers at the Indian Institute of Science (IISC) have designed a sustainable hydrogel that is efficient to remove microplastics from water. Hydrogel is a three-dimensional network comprising hydrophobic polymers synthesized by crosslinking water-soluble polymers. The sustainable polymer network that binds the containments and degrades them using UV light irradiation.
4. Namma Yatri gets live with cab services in Bengaluru
Namma Yatri, which already offers cab services in Kolkata and Kochi has now gone live with similar services in Bengaluru. As of now, the app focuses to avail rickshaw rides in the city. The feature has come up with a daily subscription model, contrary to the commission model offered by Ola and Uber.
5. The world's largest renewable energy park comes up in Gujarat
India has launched the world's largest renewable energy park in Gujarat in Kahvda, popular as a remote place in the state. The park is spread across 538 square kilometres which is five times the size of Paris. The region is now filled with solar panels and wind turbines along with workers' colonies and shops for various necessities.
6. Mumbai Metro One launches wearable metro tickets
The Mumbai Metro One or the Blue Line that is operated between Ghatkopar to Versova has recently launched a Tap-Tap, a.k.a. wearable metro tickets. These tickets are wearable at the wrist and are available to passengers with the inaugural offer of Rs. 200 that can be recharged at the customer care centres at the metro stations. The initiative aims to offer seamless travel for commuters including children.
