Deepthi Jeevanji set a world record time of 55.07 seconds in the women’s T20 400m final at the World Para Championships in Kobe, Japan, on Monday, also qualifying for the Paris Paralympics. Deepthi broke the earlier world record of 55.12 seconds set by the USA’s Breanna Clark. The 20-year-old from Telangana, who was born with an intellectual disability and was often mocked due to her facial features, made India proud on an international level. 

Phase five of the Lok Sabha elections saw a rise in voters as compared to the previous rounds

In the fifth and smallest round of the ongoing Lok Sabha polls, which took place on Monday, more than 53 million people cast ballots. The turnout for 49 seats spread over six states and two Union territories was 60.5%, down from 62.4% in the previous election. Compared to the previous four rounds, this phase suggested a rise in voting.

Interim stay on the suspension of 14 Patanjali drugs

The implementation of an order suspending the manufacturing licenses of over a dozen medicines owned by Patanjali Ayurved Ltd. and Divya Pharmacy was given an interim stay on Friday. The high-level committee's preliminary inquiry report served as the basis for the immediate imposition of the temporary halt, according to an order issued by Uttarakhand government Secretary Ayush Pankaj Kumar Pandey.

Raghunandan Kamath, the founder of Naturals Ice Cream, passed away at the age of 75 at a hospital in Mumbai on Friday night after a brief illness. He was reportedly ill for the past several days and was admitted to the hospital. ‘Our thoughts on the sad demise of our patron and founder of Naturals Ice Cream, Late (Shri) Raghunandan Kamath. Indeed a very sad and unfortunate day for us,’ mentioned a post by Naturals Ice Creams on X (formally Twitter).

India Declares One-day Mourning Today for Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi

Following the tragic demise of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Iran’s Foreign Minister Amir-Abdollahian, and his associates in a helicopter crash, the Government of India has decided to observe one day of state mourning on May 21 (Tuesday) throughout the country as a mark of respect to the departed dignitaries. The Ministry of Home Affairs stated that the National flag will be flown at half-mast throughout the country on all buildings where it is regularly flown, and there will be no official entertainment on the day.
