Local Round-up: From earthquake in Delhi to Yamuna's clean-up!

Earthquake hits Delhi NCR

An earthquake with the A 4.0 magnitude hit Delhi-NCR early on Monday where the tremors were felt for a few seconds by Delhi residents causing fear. The epicentre of the earthquake was in the national capital, Durgabai Deshmukh College of Special Education in south Delhi's Dhaula Kuan. As of yet, there has been no reports of casualties. 

Youth undertakes river voyage to reach Maha Kumbh 

Amidst the uncertainties of traffic and heavy rush in Prayagraj over the ongoing Maha Kumbh, several youth from Bihar's Buxuar took a voyage through a motor-propelled boat to reach the destination. The group started the journey on February 11 on the river Ganges and arrived at Prayagraj on February 13. The motorboat had facilities for a gas cylinder, stove, and food. The journey completed with two people steering the boat while the other five were resting. 

Reddit to expand to Bengaluru

Social media platform Reddit is set to expand its footprint strengthening its presence in India as it is going to set up an office in Bengaluru. The platform, which is headquartered in San Fransisco, has been actively recruiting human resources across various departments to support its India operations, as India forms the company’s second-largest user base globally.

IPL 2025 schedule released

The upcoming IPL's have been released with the match to start on March 22 at Eden Gardens and observe the final on May 25. As per the released schedule, the first match will be played between the champion Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on March 22, 2025.

Maharashtra student paraglides to the exam centre

A student who hails from Maharashtra's Satara district chose a unique way to reach the examination centre as he paraglided to the centre. Belonging to the Pasarani Village in Wai taluka, Samarth Mahangade took the decision after realising that he had a few minutes to reach the centre and he was already stuck in the traffic jam.

Yamuna clean-ups begin in Delhi

The clean-up work has begun in the Yamuna River following the meeting between Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena and the Chief Secretary of the national capital, as the meeting involved discussions around the Yamuna river. The spot is full of rash skimmers, weed harvesters and dredge utility units for the process.
