Whether you are from the North or South, your region does have a popular and dedicated milk brand. But did you know about the rest of them? Well, there are a few brands that are famous throughout the country but there are ample brands that are popular in their own region. We all are used to our parents getting milk from the same brand for years and sending us to get it sometimes as well. This is a testament to how brands are particular to states and regions and how they are mass-popular among the people there. Just like Maharashtra has Warna and Karnataka has Nandi, almost every state has its own famous milk brand that people prefer to have. Let's take a tour of some of the most sought-after milk brands in particular states and Union Territories of India. 

Milk brand of Andhra Pradesh - Gayathri

Started as a small-scale milk vendor in Anantapuramu (Anantapur), Andhra Pradesh in 1991, Gayathri milk can be found in almost every district of AP now. 

Milk brand of Arunachal Pradesh - Nyukmadung

Nyukmadung Dairy is one of its kind, Yak milk dairy in Arunachal Pradesh. It was recently integrated with the Indian Council for Agricultural Research-National Research Centre on Yak in 2023.

Milk brand of Assam - Purabi

Purabi is Assam's oldest and most famous dairy brand. Purabi was established in 1986 and was the only dairy brand in the Northeast back then. West Assam Milk Producers' Co-operative Union Ltd. (WAMUL) is the apex body under which this product is sold. 

Milk brand of Bihar - Sudha

Patna Dairy Project (PDP) was started in 1981 through the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB). Later NDDB handed over the arrangments to Vaishal Patliputra Dugdh Utpadak Sahkari Sangh Ltd.(VPDUSS) in 1988. Since then the organization has been famous for its product Sudha milk in the entire Bihar region. 

Milk brand of Chhattisgarh - Devbhog

Chhattisgarh State Cooperative Dairy Federation is one of the largest Cooperative Dairy Federation in Chhattisgarh, owned and managed by milk producers of Chhattisgarh State. The federation was founded in 2013 and sells Devbhog, a famous milk brand in the state.

Goa State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union Ltd. which was known as Ponda Dairy or Goa Zillha Dudh Utpadak Sangh popularly known as 'Goa Dairy' was inaugurated in 1971 and sells milk and dairy products by the name Goa Dairy in the state. 

Milk brand of Gujarat - Amul

Amul or Anand Milk Udyog Limited is the brand that was the foundation stone of the milk revolution in India and ever since it has been the prominent brand in India, particularly in the state of Gujarat. It is part of the Gujarat Milk Marketing Federation, founded by Tribhuvandas Kishibhai Patel and the farmers' union in 1946 in response to the exploitation of small dairy farmers.

Milk brand of Haryana - Vita

The Haryana Dairy Development Co-operative Federation Ltd. registered under the Haryana Co-operative Societies Act came into existence in 1977 and sells milk in the state with the name of Vita. It is one of the most preferred milk brand in Haryana.

Milk brand of Himachal Pradesh - Him

'Him' is a famous dairy brand in the Northern state of Himachal Pradesh. It is sold by Himachal Pradesh MilkFed or H.P. MilkFed which started its operations in 1983.

Milk brand of Jharkhand - Medha

Medha Dairy is an integral part of the Jharkhand Milk Federation which supports the dairy development programme in the state of Jharkhand. It was launched in the year 2014 and since then has been selling milk and milk products to the people of the state and the rest of the country. 

Milk brand of Karnataka - Nandi

Nandi Dairy has been recognised as one of the most successful dairy brands in Karnataka. It is a product of Karnataka Cooperative Milk Producers' Federation Limited (KMF) which is the Apex Body for the dairy co-operative movement in Karnataka. The brand has been in the market since 1974. 

Milk brand of Kerala - Milma

Well-known by the popular title ‘Milma’, the Kerala Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (KCMMF) was formed in 1980 as a state adjunct of the National Dairy Programme ‘Operation Flood’. Now, this brand is famous all over Kerala and is one of the people's favorites.

Milk brands of Maharashtra - Gokul, Aahar, Amar, Ranjan & Warna

Kolhapur Zilla Sahakari Dudh Utpadak Sangh Ltd, well known for its popular brand 'Gokul', is an Operation Flood cooperative dairy project established in 1963. The brand Gokul, along with other brands like Aahar, Amar, and Ranjan, is famous among the people of Maharashtra. Another notable brand, 'Warna', established in 1968, is also a well-known milk brand in the state.

Milk brand of Madhya Pradesh - Sanchi

In the year 1980, Madhya Pradesh Milk Federation Cooperative Limited (presently MP State Cooperative Dairy Federation Ltd.) was established under the Madhya Pradesh Cooperative Societies Act 1960. The brand launched the product 'Sanchi' which is now a household product in Madhya Pradesh.

Khomlang is a famous brand name for milk and dairy products in Manipur, which are manufactured by Bishnupur District Milk Co-operative Union Ltd. - BIMUL. Another brand from Manipur is Chumthang which is a part of Manipur Milk Producers’ Co-operative Union Ltd. established in the year 1985.

Milk brand of Meghalaya - Na Ri

The East Khasi Hills District Cooperative Milk Union Ltd., Shillong was established in 2009 and sells dairy products under the name 'Na Ri' which was earlier called Megha.

Milk brand of Mizoram - Mulco

Mizoram Milk Producer's Cooperative Union Limited is a co-operation in Mizoram that sells milk and dairy products under the brand name 'Mulco.'

The Dimapur District Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union Ltd. popularly known by its brand name DIMUL is an autonomous district-level cooperative milk union registered in 1984.

Milk brand of Odisha - Omfed

The Odisha State Cooperative Milk Producers' Federation Limited, famously known as 'Omfed' is one of the prominent milk brands of Odisha. It is an apex-level Dairy Cooperative Society founded in 1985 and registered under the Cooperative Society Act - 1962. 

Milk brand of Punjab - Verka

The Punjab State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation Limited, popularly known as MILKFED set up its first milk plant in erstwhile Punjab. It started a brand 'Verka' based on the name of the place where the plant was set up in Amritsar, Punjab and today the brand is famous in every household in Punjab.

Milk brand of Rajasthan - Saras

Saras is another popular brand that has been in Rajasthan after the milk revolution. Towards fulfillment of the national objective of making India self-sufficient in milk production, a small step was taken in March 1972 and Alwar Zila Dugdh Utpadak Sahakari Sangh Ltd., Alwar (popularly known as Alwar Dairy), the company that supplies Saras Milk was registered under the Cooperative Act 1965.

Sikkim Co-operative Milk Producers’ Union Limited was founded in 1980 under the State Co-operative Societies Act of 1978. They used to sell milk under the name 'Sikkimilk' now known as 'Kanchenjunga' Milk.

The Tamil Nadu Co-operative Milk Producers’ Federation Limited (TCMPF) is the federation famous for the Aavin milk in Tamil Nadu. This federation was started in 1981 with an aim to venture into activities such as milk procurement, processing, packing and sale of milk and providing milk products.

Gomati Cooperative Milk Producers' Union Ltd. (formerly known as The Tripura Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union Ltd.) was established in the year of 1982 and registered under the Tripura Cooperative Societies Act of 1974. It sells milk and milk products by the brand name Gomati Milk in the state.

Milk brand of Telangana - Vijaya

Telangana State Dairy Development Cooperative Federation Limited (TSDDCF) which was started in 2016 sells a product under the brand name Vijaya which distributes milk in the majority of the houses in the state of Telangana.  

Milk brands of Uttar Pradesh - Gyan & Parag

Established in 2007 by Shri C.P Agarwal in Lucknow, Gyan Dairy began with two products – Gyan Skimmed Milk Powder and Gyan Desi Ghee. Now headed by Mr. Jai Agarwal and Mr. Anuj Agarwal, Gyan is the largest private dairy in eastern UP, ranking among the top 3 brands for Fresh Milk and Milk Products. Parag Dairy is another brand that is well-known in Uttar Pradesh.

Uttarakhand Co-operative Dairy Federation Ltd. (UCDF Ltd.) is an apex-level State Federation of District Milk Co-operative Unions in Uttarakhand. It was established in the year 2001 and has a brand 'Aanchal' which is famous for its milk and dairy products in the state of Uttarakhand.

Milk brand of West Bengal - Mimul

The Midnapore Co-operative Milk Producers Union Ltd. (MIMUL) was set up in the year 1977 under the Operation Flood program of the West Bengal Government with the objective of uplifting the unorganized rural Milk Producers. It was registered in 1977 under the West Bengal Co-operative Societies Act-1975 and started its functioning in the district of erstwhile Midnapore through the organization of Milk Co-operative Societies in the villages based on the Anand Pattern three-tier co-operative structure. Currently, it sells milk and milk products under the brand 'Mimul' and is one of the famous milk brands in Bengal. 

Milk brand of Andaman & Nicobar - ANIIDCO

Andaman and Nicobar Islands Integrated Development Corporation Limited (ANIIDCO) is a development corporation for the island. They have a milk-producing unit that sells milk and dairy products by the name ANIIDCO in the Union Terrority.  

Milk brand of Chandigarh - Verka

Just like Punjab, Verka is also famous in Chandigarh. 

Milk brand of Delhi  - Mother Dairy

Mother Dairy is yet another brand that has a high recall value. This brand was commissioned in 1974 and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB). The milk from this brand is famous in Delhi and elsewhere.

Milk brands of Jammu & Kashmir - Surya & Snowcap

Surya Milk and its milk products are a production of Vaid Milk Products Private Limited. It was started in the year 1999 and has become a household name in Jammu. Another brand 'Snowcap', famous in Jammu and Kashmir is a product of Jammu & Kashmir Milk Producers Co-operative Limited (JKMPCL) and was established in 2004.

Milk brand of Puducherry - Ponlait

The Pondicherry Co-op. Milk Producers’ Union Ltd. (hereinafter called Ponlait) commenced its functioning in 1955 as the Pondicherry Co-operative Milk Supply Society and sells milk under the name Ponlait.

Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu

The Union Territory of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu doesn't have any particular corporation but here are some dairies where you can get milk: Yadav Dairy Farm, Shree Dharamraj Dairy and Naina Dairy. 

Ladakh and Lakshadweep both Union Territories don't have a milk corporation or federations however you can check out Kangri Dairy in Ladkah for milk and dairy products and Amul is available in Lakshadweep.
