Whether you are from the North or South, your region does have a popular and dedicated milk brand. But did you know about the rest of them? Well, there are a few brands that are famous throughout the country but there are ample brands that are popular in their own region. We all are used to our parents getting milk from the same brand for years and sending us to get it sometimes as well. This is a testament to how brands are particular to states and regions and how they are mass-popular among the people there. Just like Maharashtra has Warna and Karnataka has Nandi, almost every state has its own famous milk brand that people prefer to have. Let's take a tour of some of the most sought-after milk brands in particular states and Union Territories of India.

Started as a small-scale milk vendor in Anantapuramu (Anantapur), Andhra Pradesh in 1991, Gayathri milk can be found in almost every district of AP now. 

Milk brand of Arunachal Pradesh - Nyukmadung

Nyukmadung Dairy is one of its kind, Yak milk dairy in Arunachal Pradesh. It was recently integrated with the Indian Council for Agricultural Research-National Research Centre on Yak in 2023.

Patna Dairy Project (PDP) was started in 1981 through the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB). Later NDDB handed over the arrangments to Vaishal Patliputra Dugdh Utpadak Sahkari Sangh Ltd.(VPDUSS) in 1988. Since then the organization has been famous for its product Sudha milk in the entire Bihar region.

It is part of the Gujarat Milk Marketing Federation, founded by Tribhuvandas Kishibhai Patel and the farmers' union in 1946 in response to the exploitation of small dairy farmers.

The Dimapur District Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union Ltd. popularly known by its brand name DIMUL is an autonomous district-level cooperative milk union registered in 1984.

The Midnapore Co-operative Milk Producers Union Ltd. (MIMUL) was set up in the year 1977 under the Operation Flood program of the West Bengal Government with the objective of uplifting the unorganized rural Milk Producers. It was registered in 1977 under the West Bengal Co-operative Societies Act-1975 and started its functioning in the district of erstwhile Midnapore through the organization of Milk Co-operative Societies in the villages based on the Anand Pattern three-tier co-operative structure. Currently, it sells milk and milk products under the brand 'Mimul' and is one of the famous milk brands in Bengal.

Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu

The Union Territory of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu doesn't have any particular corporation but here are some dairies where you can get milk: Yadav Dairy Farm, Shree Dharamraj Dairy and Naina Dairy. 

Ladakh and Lakshadweep both Union Territories don't have a milk corporation or federations however you can check out Kangri Dairy in Ladkah for milk and dairy products and Amul is available in Lakshadweep.
