Warm Food & Cosy Vibes at the Celeb Fave Mazi Coffee Bar & Kitchen in Santacruz

Located in Santacruz, Mazi Coffee Bar & Kitchen is the new celebrity favourite spot for coffee lovers and foodies alike. Created by Shashank Kadam, Shonali Kewalramani, and Gaurav Golechha, this vibrant café brings people together, inspired by the Greek word "Mazi", meaning "coming together". Local Samosa went over for lunch on a wintery mid-week afternoon and was pleasantly surprised with the experience.

From the moment we walked in, the cosy interiors of Mazi—white walls, wooden furniture, and charming plants—created an inviting vibe. The space feels effortlessly stylish, making it perfect for your next Insta post. What I wasn’t expecting was the fun layer of nostalgia, with pop tunes from the '90s playing in the background, adding an unexpected joy to the experience. There are plenty of books all around with quirky props like a dial-up phone that just sets the mood. The colour palette is neutral and the sun just streams in beautifully through the French windows. The relaxed, welcoming ambience immediately makes you feel at home, even on your first visit.

Coffee and Comfort Food Galore

Mazi is a coffee lover’s paradise, with an impressive coffee station offering everything from espresso to more adventurous brews. Alongside the coffee, the food menu features a fusion of global and local flavours. Some of the crowd favourites include Cigar Rolls and Khichiya Avocado Salsa, the comforting Gnocchi Pasta and Thai Curry Rice. For dessert, the Sizzling Brownie would hit the spot perfectly for those with a sweet tooth. 

We started with the Aubergine Moussaka from the Christmas and Festive Season special menu, which was such a pleasant surprise. The cheesy top, diced vegetables and thick slices of well-cooked aubergine turned the dish into a warm hug. Next, we went for the Chicken Stuffed Roulade, which can be a hit or a miss, if you know. It sat on a bed of smooth and subtle green pea mash and a flavourful gravy. The chicken was perfectly cooked and the spinach in the stuffing stood out for its freshness. 

We couldn't help but try the season-special Mexican Chilli Hot Chocolate, which just hit the mark. For dessert, we opted for the Rum Chocolate Mousse which came in a chai ka cup you get at tea stalls. It had hardened a bit at the top but was delicious nonetheless. The best part is that this is an absolutely affordable option, especially considering its location at an average price of Rs. 1,500 for two.

Whether you’re catching up with friends or relaxing with a book, Mazi offers the ideal environment to enjoy good food and even better company. This is their second outlet after already setting shop in Bandra.
