Imagine you walk into a restaurant and get out with a full stomach and a bag full of antiques and collectables. Sounds unusual, right? But that's exactly the kind of experience The Kin Hotel in Mumbai offers. Don’t get yourself confused, let's dive into the story behind Dadar’s recent attraction and dig out things (literally and artfully).
Located near the Dadar Beach and a few steps away from the famous Shivaji Park, The Kin Hotel is making a buzz for standing out as a boutique hotel. Started by the sibling duo Imrun Singh Sethi and Guneet Singh in a building that belongs to the Sethi family. This family property, which was first run as a two-star hotel, took an aesthetic and modern turn when the current generation of Sethis took over the reign.

The concept was to redefine the experience of a hotel by providing value to the customers. So, Imrun and Guneet came up with the idea of creating a space that lets people take home not just memories but also handpicked items. There are just 15 rooms in the hotel, but each one is well-designed and has special features like handcrafted furniture, porthole windows that overlook the sea, and terrazzo baths. However, The Kin's concept store inside is what really makes it unique. Guests can buy literally everything—light fixtures, artwork, decor pieces, sKIN toiletries, and even some of the furniture.

Except for the bed linen, the bed, and curtains, guests can either buy or pre-order pretty much everything they see in the hotel. And if you are wondering what might interest you, the place has hand-poured soy wax candles with locally made candle holders, art pieces from a rotating collection, and various decor items like vases, lamps, glassware, and a vinyl record. Everything combined makes it a modern space with a hint of vintage aesthetics.

But you must be wondering about the food, as the intro mentions, ‘full stomach.’ Don’t worry; The Kin has a European-style bistro by the name 'Terttulia,' which has been up and running for almost 10 years by the Sethi family. Its all-day breakfast menu, fresh salmon pork bowls and steak frites, mini quiche, zoodles, and other food items are worth trying your hand at. The game ups when all these delicacies come with the laid-back vibe, live saxophone sessions and DJ nights on weekends.

If you are already enticed, the boutique hotel even has a rooftop terrace facing the gorgeous Dadar Beach and an open-air gym. So, whether you are a lover of aesthetics and collectables or a Mumbaikar seeking an artsy weekend with all things in one place, this is the place to be.
