Episode 7 of Shark Tank India saw a brand that aims not to cater to customers but to food entrepreneurs by offering ready-to-use commercial kitchen spaces, infrastructure, and necessary licenses. With a pitch and idea that impressed three Sharks during the episode, the duo-entrepreneur secured a deal with their model. Let’s dive into the brand and what it provides with its one-of-its-kind business model.
About the brand
Speed Kitchen, founded by childhood friends Paurav Rastogi and Shamin Kapoor in March 2021, is India's first commercial shared kitchen space. The company provides ready-to-go, fully equipped, licensed kitchens on a revenue-sharing basis, aiming to democratise access to consumers, reduce real-estate and equipment costs, and facilitate the setup of delivery-only kitchens.
Prior to founding Speed Kitchen, Paurav Rastogi worked at OYO, where he gained insights into the challenges of traditional restaurant setups, such as securing prime locations and managing complex lease agreements. These experiences inspired him to co-found Speed Kitchen with Shamin Kapoor, providing fully equipped, ready-to-use commercial kitchen spaces for food entrepreneurs.
Founders of Speed Kitchen
As of January 2025, Speed Kitchen operates in four cities across India—Delhi-NCR, Bangalore, Pune, and Mumbai—with over 130 kitchens serving more than 50 brands, including notable names like Haldiram's, Chaayos, and Daryaganj. The company reported a revenue of Rs. 10.85 crore and a profit of Rs. 1.11 crore for the fiscal year 2023. Looking ahead, Speed Kitchen plans to expand into Hyderabad and Chandigarh within the next 3-6 months, focusing on deeper penetration in its current cities while organising the unorganised food services space in India.
