Shahin Mannan is Crafting Menswear For Everyday Luxury

Shahin Mannan’s menswear favours everyday luxury: breathable fabrics, relaxed silhouettes and embroidered motifs. She emphasises seasonless wearability: zip shirts as light jackets, Nehru jackets for layering, and pieces made to last for real life.

When Shahin Mannan started her label in 2015, she had a clear goal: to create clothes that outlive seasonal fashion cycles. Menswear, in particular, became a space where she could explore this idea of longevity. “We design pieces to be timeless, not trend-based. We started the brand in 2015, and we still make and wear our earliest pieces,” she explains.

For Shahin, the aim has always been about more than looking current. She designs for men who value wearability, personality, and craft — garments that are neither fleeting statements nor locked into tradition, but instead exist somewhere in between.

The Philosophy of Everyday Luxury

Central to her work is the idea of “everyday luxury.” As she describes it, this means calm, effortless clothing built around detail and care. Inspiration doesn’t come from extravagance but from ordinary life — nature, nostalgic objects, familiar references — transformed into pieces that feel distinctive yet approachable.

Her silhouettes reflect this thinking. Relaxed trousers, boxy shirts, and light jackets offer comfort without sacrificing form. Nothing feels overworked, yet every garment carries a deliberate sense of design. Shahin notes, “Our fits are mostly relaxed — think baggy pants, boxy shirts, and light jackets — making them easy to wear all year round.”

Embroidery as Identity

One of the strongest signatures of Shahin’s menswear is her choice to work exclusively with embroidery. “All the artworks, motifs, and graphics on the clothes are embroidered, which gives the pieces a unique and crafted feel,” she says.

This insistence on embroidery, rather than print, creates clothing with tactility and depth. Whether playful fish motifs or abstract florals, each design tells its story through threads. For men who may prefer subtle detail over heavy embellishment, it’s a way to express individuality while keeping the look understated.

Shahin’s approach to detail is not about spectacle, but about personality. Her garments show how even the smallest embroidered element can shift a shirt, jacket, or pair of trousers from ordinary to memorable.

Longevity and Versatility

Another defining quality of Shahin Mannan’s menswear is how easily it adapts. The same shirt can be zipped up as a standalone piece or left open over a T-shirt to work as a jacket. A Nehru jacket embroidered with quiet motifs pairs as well with a kurta as it does with jeans. “Many of our shirts with zippers can double as light jackets — just throw on a T-shirt underneath and wear them open for a cool layered look,” she suggests.

This versatility, combined with breathable fabrics like cotton-silk, chambray, and Japanese crepe, ensures that the clothes work across contexts and climates. They aren’t tied to specific events or seasons, but designed to move with their wearer’s life.

It’s here that her recent menswear line, Rua by Shahin Mannan, fits in naturally, not as a departure but as a continuation of her broader philosophy. Rua, she notes, is simply “more relaxed and wearable” than earlier work, reinforcing her commitment to comfort, subtlety, and timeless appeal.

Dressing with Intent

What sets Shahin apart is not just her aesthetic but her clarity of intent. She is building menswear that rejects both fast-changing trends and rigid categories. Her pieces speak to men of any age, offering a wardrobe that can be revisited year after year. “The goal is always to design something you’ll want to wear again and again, no matter the year,” she says.

In a landscape where fashion often demands attention, Shahin Mannan offers a quieter alternative: clothing that values detail, ease, and longevity. It’s not about spectacle; it’s about making everyday dressing feel just that little bit more considered.
