In the world of fashion, some stories stand out not for their grandeur but for their honesty. Sandblocks, a young homegrown label, is one such story. At just 21, founder Sneha Jain started this Jaipur-based brand with a simple yet powerful idea: to make authentic block-printed clothing accessible, stylish, and truly rooted in India’s artisanal heritage. From breezy spaghetti tops to elegant kurta sets, Sandblocks celebrates both the artistry of block printing and the everyday comfort people seek in their clothes.

A Dream Born Young

Starting a brand at 21 is no small feat, but Sneha’s journey shows that passion often overrules hesitation. Growing up in Jaipur, she was surrounded by the beauty of block prints, a craft that had been practised by artisans in her city for centuries. Yet, she noticed a gap in the market. While many brands sold block-printed clothing at steep prices, not all were authentic. Others lacked inclusivity, leaving out people who didn’t fit the conventional sizing spectrum. Jain wanted to change that. With this brand, she set out to create clothes that were not only true to their artisanal roots but also affordable, stylish, and inclusive. "Growing up, it was a dream to start a brand. My own brand. I was never fascinated by the concept of working in an office. Coming from a family that has a business background, this was my calling", Jain says.

When asked why she chose block printing and cotton as her foundation, Jain's answer is straightforward: "authenticity and comfort." Cotton, with its light, breathable quality, is perfect for Indian weather. And block prints, with their unique imperfections and intricate charm, bring character to every piece. Each motif carries the story of the artisan who carved it, dipped it in dye, and pressed it by hand. “It’s not just about design,” the founder says, “it’s about preserving a legacy while making it wearable for today.”

The Jaipur Connection

One of Sandblocks’ strongest pillars is its collaboration with artisans from Jaipur. These craftsmen, who have honed their skills over generations, are the lifeblood of the brand. Sneha didn’t just want to borrow their work; she wanted to work alongside them. The result is a collection that marries tradition with modernity. A kurta might carry the floral grace of centuries-old printing techniques, but its silhouette is updated for contemporary wardrobes. Spaghetti tops, usually associated with Western fashion, get a fresh spin with hand-printed Indian motifs. The collaboration is not only creative but also respectful, ensuring artisans are credited, fairly compensated, and given space to showcase their craft on a modern stage.

The magic of this brand lies in its ability to balance heritage with modern design. For Sneha, it’s never about replicating old patterns without context. As a fashion student, currently pursuing Fashion Styling and Communication, she reimagines how block prints can be styled today. Think pastel-toned kurta sets for festive mornings, or a block-printed spaghetti top that pairs as well with jeans as it does with a cotton skirt. This adaptability makes the brand's pieces versatile, wearable across occasions, and appealing to younger buyers who may not otherwise gravitate towards traditional block prints.

Sneha Jain, the founder of Sandblocks

Sneha says, "Feeling comfortable in your skin is important, and with our brand, we aim to make it as comfortable to wear as possible". The 21-year-old founder believes fashion should be as much about comfort as it is about style. Cotton fabrics, breathable fits, and easy silhouettes ensure the clothes are suitable for everyday wear. “You should be able to sit through a workday, step into a gathering, or lounge at home in the same outfit, and still feel comfortable,” Sneha says. That ethos has become central to her brand's design language.

The Challenges of Starting Young

Of course, launching a brand so young hasn’t been easy. Sneha admits the early days were filled with trial and error. Convincing people to trust a new label, managing artisan collaborations, and building an identity in a crowded market were all uphill tasks. But she handled them with persistence and focus. Every challenge was a lesson about branding, business, and, most importantly, staying true to her vision.

In a time when sustainability is more than just a buzzword, Sandblocks is actively finding its place in the conversation. Cotton and block printing, by nature, are eco-friendly processes compared to mass-produced synthetic fabrics. But Sneha knows there’s more work to be done. From sourcing natural dyes to exploring waste-reducing production methods, Sandblocks is taking small but steady steps towards becoming a more responsible brand. For Sneha, it’s not about ticking boxes; it’s about creating clothing that people can feel good about wearing, in every sense of the word.

Size Inclusivity: The Next Goal

3

One of the most important goals Sandblocks is working toward is size inclusivity. Sneha has often spoken about how fashion in India remains restrictive for people outside “standard” sizes. She wants Sandblocks to change that narrative. “Fashion should be for everyone, not just a selected few,” she says. While the brand currently offers a limited size range, expansion is a priority as the business grows. The aim is to design clothes that flatter diverse body types without compromising on comfort or style.

For Sneha, the proudest moments so far have been the responses from customers who feel a genuine connection with Sandblocks' clothing. From young professionals picking up their first kurta set to older buyers rediscovering block prints through modern silhouettes, the brand has struck a chord across age groups. Each positive review or repeat customer is a reminder of why she started this journey. As for what’s next? Sandblocks is gearing up for new launches that continue to blend traditional prints with fresh styles. There’s talk of expanding categories, exploring festive collections, and, of course, introducing a wider size range. The long-term dream is clear: to make Sandblocks a name that people trust for authentic, comfortable, and inclusive Indian wear.

Sneha Jain may have started young, but her vision is seasoned with clarity and compassion. By giving Jaipur’s block prints a modern voice and keeping inclusivity at the heart of her brand, she’s carving a space in Indian fashion that feels both fresh and timeless. In a market often cluttered with fast fashion and lofty price tags, Sandblocks is proof that authenticity, accessibility, and artistry can coexist beautifully.
