In India's evolving clean beauty landscape, where consumers increasingly scrutinise what they apply to their skin, RAS Luxury Oils stands apart with their complete vertical integration from cultivation to final product. This Raipur-based brand defines itself as a farm-to-face luxury skincare venture, controlling every step from seed to skin.

Founded by Sangeeta Jain and her daughters Shubhika and Surabhi, RAS (pronounced "ruh-us," meaning "essence" in Sanskrit) represents a refreshing departure from beauty brands designed in corporate boardrooms. Instead, it grows—quite literally—from the family's deep-rooted knowledge of botanicals and their own farmland in Chhattisgarh.

The Jains' background in floriculture and agriculture provided a natural foundation for their venture into beauty. While multinational corporations dominate the Indian skincare market, the family identified a gap for authentic, transparently-sourced luxury products made with ingredients they could personally vouch for.

Most beauty brands outsource various aspects of their production chain, but RAS oversees everything from cultivation to formulation, bottling, packaging and distribution. This vertically integrated approach gives them unprecedented control over quality and allows them to substantiate claims about the purity of their ingredients.

"To me, true luxury lies in purity and purpose. With RAS, Farm-to-Face means each ingredient is carefully grown, lovingly processed, and blended into formulations that deliver results—so women of all ages experience skincare that's as honest as it is indulgent," Shubhika explains.

The family's commitment extends beyond buzzwords. Raw materials are grown on their estate or ethically sourced, with many ingredients cultivated on their Raipur land. The products are handmade in small batches at their DSIR-approved laboratory, ensuring meticulous attention to detail that mass production simply cannot match.

Family traditions heavily influenced their approach to formulation. "I remember watching my mother and grandmother prepare fresh skincare from the kitchen—malai, haldi, rose water, saffron—there was such love and intention in those rituals. That rootedness in nature and nurture is what I've tried to bring into RAS," Shubhika reminisces.

The genesis of the brand came from personal experience. In 2017, Shubhika, then 23 and recently graduated from Lady Shri Ram College, had joined the family business to manage their aromatic oil division. She noticed a significant gap in the market while searching for natural, preservative-free skincare products for her mother. The duo had been creating concoctions for personal use, which gradually evolved into a formal business concept.

Their product line encompasses skincare essentials—cleansers, serums, face oils, body oils, body polishes, pure essential oils, and pure plant oils—incorporating familiar ingredients such as saffron, turmeric, rose and ashwagandha. The range follows cruelty-free practices certified by PETA and uses ECOCERT-approved ingredients, containing no synthetic fragrances, additives, alcohol, wax, silicon or parabens.

The Jain family brings complementary expertise to the venture. Shubhika spearheads product development and brand vision after studying at the London School of Economics and the School of Natural Skincare. Sangeeta contributes her extensive knowledge of plants and natural ingredients. Surabhi, who studies design in the UK, directs the brand's creative and digital presence.

That's where your strength rebuilds," Shubhika shares when discussing her approach to balancing entrepreneurship with personal wellbeing.

The brand's strategic positioning within the luxury market has led to partnerships with prestigious hotels and spas. Since its launch, the brand has expanded internationally to Hong Kong and Dubai, participating in organic and beauty exhibitions abroad. The bootstrapped startup employs a team of fifteen across production, administration, marketing, web development and research and development.

RAS has carved out a distinctive niche by offering products that authentically represent India's botanical heritage while meeting contemporary expectations for ethical production and efficacy.

In transforming generations of family knowledge into a modern skincare line, the Jains have created something increasingly sought after in today's market: beauty products with provenance, purpose and proven results.
