While you’re stuck in traffic with dust swirling around, and you spot a car with a green number plate, that is your sign to go green and choose an EV. Though the masses might disagree, many believe an EV is a step forward in the sustainable world with its bright green number plate. An EV or electric vehicle was introduced by Thomas Parker, an English inventor, in 1884. As compared to any other regular vehicle, an EV is a boon as it is responsible for almost zero emissions. Entirely functional on batteries, we hope to see an EV as the next trendsetter in the Indian Automotive Industry.
What's an EV (Electric Vehicle)?
But what does an EV mean, and why are people raving about it? To answer this question, one must know what an EV is. To put forth a technical explanation of an EV (Electric Vehicle), it is a vehicle powered by a battery that supplies its electricity. An EV can be powered solely by an electric motor drawing electricity from a battery or an internal combustion engine. Coming back to the question, why is an EV gaining popularity in the Indian automotive market? With the advent of Global warming, worldwide temperatures are rising, our ocean levels are increasing, glaciers are melting, and as days pass by, we are also exhausting the limited sources of fuel that we have. According to a report, there are more than 1.475 billion vehicles that run daily and exhaust an alarming amount of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases. This is one of the reasons why global warming has spiked. An EV was created to tackle this issue.
The future with Eva
Eva is a futuristic leap in technological advancements and the history of the Indian automotive industry. The Eva car is India’s first-ever solar-powered EV, which implies that it is entirely run by energy that is sourced from the sun. This project is a right fit for a tropical country like India, where the sun burns bright. In addition to being a solar-powered car, Eva can be distinguished as a city-centric car. The peculiar and well-thought-out design is what makes it so unique. The vision of Vayve Mobility is to revolutionise urban infrastructure and mobility by bringing forward an electric car that is tailored to the needs of specific market segments. With rapidly evolving technology and shifts in customer demand, Eva is designed to address the unique requirements rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. Advancements in the battery and solar panel make Eva a sustainable vehicle designed to master renewable energy. Due to its sleek design, the car is made for congested city roads and to smoothly operate through traffic.
Vayve Mobility, a Pune-based automotive company, launched Eva, India’s first-ever solar-powered EV, at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. The car is known for its sleek design, affordability and city-friendly approach, and has a few notable features. One of the standout features is the rental battery plan, allowing buyers to reduce upfront costs and pay for battery usage per kilometre. This EV was first introduced at the Auto Expo of 2023 as a new concept of cars. Eva comes in three variants: Nova, Stella and Vega. The approximate price of the car without the battery plan is Rs. 3.99 Lakh, and with it is Rs. 3.25 Lakh. In consideration of the rental plan, Vayve has set the minimum monthly usage limit. Nova is 600 km, Stella is 800 km, and Vega is 1,200 km.
