India’s leading design authority, AD, is all set to host the third edition of their flagship event the AD Design Show!

India's one of the finest art and design show hosted by Architectural Digest is now in Mumbai. Witness the third edition of AD Design Show empowering "The Power of Karigar."

Held in association with Asian Paints, AD has lots planned this year. There will be a stellar line-up of keynote speakers for the Power Talks. AD Design Show is also bringing back the Power to the Karigar, supported by JSW, a signature project at ADDS, where visitors can watch master karigars at work. The big highlight this year is the AD Museum, a first of its kind which will celebrate 75 years of India’s independence through the lens of design. There will be an exhibit of 75 photographs and objects that speak of the history, and the true depth and beauty of modern design in India.

THE AD MUSEUM

The central highlight of the AD Design Show is the AD MUSEUM. As an ode to the country’s 75th year of Independence, the museum explores an inward gaze into the post-independence art, design, textiles, and architecture of India. It focuses on who we are, where we come from, what our milestones have been, and where we are headed. The India Gaze — is a curation of 75 objects and photographs that piece together the history of art, design, and architecture in India post-1947. From Le Corbusier’s Chandigarh, Monika Correa’s textiles, and Dashrath Patel’s lacquerware to other stellar contemporary makers’ works.

POWER TALKS

Bijoy Jain

The AD Design Show brings back its iconic Power Talks headlined by some of the most distinguished personalities in architecture, art, and design. Some notable names part of the stellar lineup includes internationally acclaimed lighting designer, Michael Anastassiades in conversation with Bijoy JainPinakin Patel and Ashiesh Shah talk about the late Dasrath Patel's contribution to India’s design narrative, as well as their own contemporary practices in changing times. Art historian and curator Naman Ahuja delves into ancient Indian architecture and traces its relationship with modern architecture in India. 

POWER TO THE KARIGAR

Bidri Art

Power to the Karigar is a special interactive pavilion dedicated to 5 handmade crafts and innovations where visitors can watch how artisans give form to objects, engage in a dialogue with them, and even learn their techniques through observation. JSW supports this initiative. The country’s best and most talented karigars producing the finest textiles, furniture, ceramics, and artworks are invited to showcase their distinguished skills and techniques. 

You can attend this show at Jio World Centre Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai from 16th to 18th of December, 2022.
