1. Mirabai Chanu wins 'BBC Indian Sportswoman of the year' award

Ace Indian weightlifter Mirabai Chanu had been awarded the 'BBC Indian Sportswoman of the Year' award for the year 2021 in New Delhi. Mirabai Chanu had made the whole country proud by winning a Silver in the 49 kg category at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. Currently, she is preparing for Asian Games and Commonwealth Games.

2. Hot-air balloon services launched in Kashmir

The hot air balloon services have been started by the tourism department of Kashmir at Srinagar's Zabarwan Park to attract tourists. The services were launched last Saturday where people enjoyed the view of the Zabarwan mountains and the sight of Dal lake. The balloons will accommodate almost four people except for the captain.

3. Mumbai CSMT to have virtual reality tours

The Indian Railways, along with Google is going to provide a chance of virtual reality tours to the waiting passengers at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT). The railways have set up the Google video installations at CSMT that display the heritage of the country like Red Fort, Ajanta Caves, and the Taj Mahal. Not only this but these installations will also be seen at other major terminals in the country.

4. Two Metro lines started in Mumbai

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has launched two Metro lines 2A and 7 between Andheri and Dahisar. These two metro lines will run on the east and west side of the suburb. The major aim of this metro is to decongest the Western Express Highway (WEH). The lines were launched on the occasion of the popular state festival - Gudi Padva.

5. Ramzan market in Mumbai opens after two years

More than 250 years old, the Ramzan market on Mohammed Ali Road had seen closure for two years due to COVID-19. However, with decreasing cases and the removal of COVID-19 restrictions in Mumbai, the market has again come up to offer one of the best food in the street along with goodies-  popular during Ramzan.

6. Mumbai local opens for all passengers

Due to the COVID-19 surge, it was made mandatory for people to have a vaccination certificate to travel by the locals. However, as the government removed all restrictions in the city, the locals have been open for all passengers irrespective of their vaccination status. Local trains in Mumbai are one of the major commutation mediums for the people.
