1. Legal age of marriage for girls raised to 21 years


Bringing it at par with men, the minimum age of women for marrying in India has been raised from 18 years to 21 years. The Union Cabinet cleared the proposal for this and the centre will also amend the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006, Special Marriage Act, and Hindu Marriage Act, 1955 according to the proposal.

2. Section 144 imposed in Mumbai


Amid the fear of the Omicron variant, Mumbai police have confirmed that Section 144 will be imposed in the city till December 31, 2021, to curb the spread. According to the fresh measures, only 50% of the capacity at a venue will be allowed for any event. Moreover, only double vaccinated people will be allowed to enter places like malls and similar establishments.

3. Teen Indian golfer bags Global Child Prodigy Award 2022


Avni Prashanth, a 15-year-old, has won the ‘Global Child Prodigy Award 2022’ for excellence in playing Golf. She is currently the two-time winner on the Hero Women’s professional golf tour. She has also represented the country at the Women’s Amateur Asia Pacific Golf Championship and The Asia Pacific Golf Council, where she came in the top 16.

4. Durga Puja of Kolkata is now under the UNESCO Intangible Heritage list


The popular Durga Puja of Kolkata, has now been inscribed in the ‘Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. Along with this, almost 14 other events have also been included in the list that represents India’s traditions and cultures.
