Winter in Delhi has its own charm. One of the reasons why we love Delhi’s winter is because of the variety of the food it offers. From Safed Gajar ka Halwa to Garma garam Jalebi, to crispy soya cheap to a lot more. For many non-vegetarians, eating fish in winter is a ritual. Many eateries serve amazing kebabs, fish, and tandoori items, but the one we are talking about today is the iconic fish from Pappu Fish Wala in Pul Bangash. This eatery is as old as 82 years and offers lip-smacking fried fish and other non-veg dishes.
An eatery where APJ Abdul Kalam used to eat fish!
India’s former President, Late APJ Abdul Kalam also used to visit Pappu Fish Wala for its delicacies.
Charan Jeet Singh, the owner of Pappu Fish Wala, belongs to the third generation and cooks all the items himself. Every morning at 10 A.M., he opens the shop and starts preparing for the dishes.
From fried Sole, Surmai, Singhara, Pomfret, Prawns to Chicken and Mutton seekh kebab, Pappu Fish Wala is definitely a heaven for all non-veg fans. Not only this, but the menu also features different non-veg curries and egg Pakoras. Their much-loved fish is double fried and then served hot with onion and green chutney.
You will find these items throughout the year, but during winters, it becomes even more crowded. Eating a plate of hot fish hits different in Dilli ki Sardi. Charan Jeet Singh will fry the order right in front of you. And, you can even ask for a Rumali roti to enjoy a proper meal.
Located on the busy Jhansi Road in Pul Bangash, Pappu Fish Wala is a place worth visiting if you love fish. You can sit inside the shop and watch TV or simply glance through the black and white photographs of Charan Jeet Singh with APJ Abdul Kalam. Or you can also enjoy how Charan Jeet Ji smoothly scoops the fish with his hands into the Kadhai. This is a place to be in winters.
