Vandana Kataria, Indian women hockey team player has been appointed the brand ambassador of Uttarakhand's department of Women Empowerment and Child Development. The move has been taken by the government after the performance of the women's hockey team at the Tokyo Olympics.

2. Two women officers joined Indo-Tibetian Border Police in combat roles for the first time

For the very first time, two women have joined the Indo-Tibetian Border Police (ITBP) in the combat role through UPSC as Assistant Commandants (AC). The two officers are Prakriti, who is an Electrical Engineer, and Diksha, who is a daughter of an ITBP officer.

3. Uttarakhand to honour COVID warriors on Independence Day

Uttarakhand government has decided to honor the COVID warriors along with the freedom fighters on Independence Day. They have also asked the departments to hand over the list of those people to the sports department. The independence day program will be held at the parade ground of Uttarakhand.

4. Kerala doctor treats tribals for Rs 10 only

Dr. V Narayanan, who is a pediatrician by specialization, also acts as a physician for the tribals living in the Attappadi area. He has been treating patients mostly for free or for Rs 10 which is collected from them as a token amount. He has been involved in this noble work since 2002 and has also set up a hospital under his initiative — the Swami Vivekananda Medical Mission (SVMM) hospital, which is known as the ‘10-rupee hospital’.

5. Kolkata tea seller sings Kishore Kumar songs to entertain customers

Paltan Nag, a tea seller from Kolkata has been winning hearts on social media after his video singing "Main Shayar Badnam" has gone viral on Facebook. The video was taken and uploaded on August 4, Kishore Kumar's birthday where Nag was as usual singing songs and got captured by a social media user. The 56-year-old runs a tea stall in Beniatola Lane.
