1. First trans woman to be part of Tamil Nadu's Advisory Committee

Narthaki Natraj has become the first transwoman to be part of Tamil Nadu's Advisory Committee headed by the Chief Minister of the state. Narthaki is a Bharatanatyam dancer who has received Padma Shri in 2019, making her the first transgender to have received the award.

2. Three states on high alert owing to the emerging 'Delta variant'

The new COVID-19 variant, 'Delta Plus' has alerted the center and the state government of Maharashtra, Kerala, and Madhya Pradesh. As of now, the cases have been found in Ratnagiri, Jalgaon, Palakkad, Pathanamthitta, Bhopal, and Shivpuri. The total count of cases with the new variant is 22 including all three states. Moreover, the government has also named it, 'variant of concern'.

3. Bihar establishes first transgender shelter in Patna

In the first-of-its-kind initiative, the shelter and skill training center has been started in Patna for transgender persons. The initiative is taken under the 'Garima Greh' scheme under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. This shelter is likely to train 25 transgender persons so that they take up various work in the future.

4. Interstate bus services to resume operations in Himachal Pradesh

The interstate bus services will start operating like before from July 1, as per the HP's cabinet. Further, people will no longer have to carry the e-pass for travelling. The government has also given a green signal to 100% of staff at the government offices and the shops will remain open from 9 am to 8 pm.

5. Cop jumps in the water to save a drowning man

While being on his duty, Ashish Kumar, a police sub-inspector from Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh saw a man drowning in a canal. He, without caring for his life, jumped into the water to rescue him. He has been rewarded with Rs 25,000 for his selfless motive and kindness.

6. Jharkhand tribal girl qualifies for World Wrestling Championship

Chanchala Kumari has become the first player from the state of Jharkhand to represent India in the World Wrestling Championship which is going to be held in Hungary from July 19 to 25. Chanchala had to take up sports since she was not able to study further due to the financial conditions of her family. Her father is a farmer who also works as a plumber for a living.
