Vaccination at workplaces, both public and private, likely to begin from April 11

The centre has asked all states and UTs to prepare for the launch of vaccination at workplaces from April 11. Read the full order below.

For the first time since the beginning of the vaccination drive, the central government has now ordered vaccination at workplaces. All public and private workplaces across states and UTs have been asked to prepare for the launch by April 11.

The workplaces will be tagged to the existing COVID-19 vaccination centres (CVCs) for the drive. People over 45 years of age will be eligible to participate in the vaccination at the offices.

However, the beneficiaries will have to register on the Co-WIN portal before taking the vaccine. The offices will also designate the senior staff member to be the nodal officer for the drive. The officer will, then, coordinate with district health authorities or private CVCs.

The schedule for the vaccination session will be prepared and intimated to the offices before 15 days. This is to ensure maximum participation during the sessions.

A trained vaccination team will vaccinate 100 beneficiaries at a workplace. On the other hand, private CVCs will send their team to private workplaces.

In addition to the online registration, physical registration will also be available for the people at workplaces. However, office staff will not be allowed to take their family members for the vaccination.

All the workplaces will have to follow the COVID-19 protocols during the vaccination sessions.
