The civic body will use Nirbhaya funds for the construction of the lounges which will have women security personnel and CCTV cameras.

The lounges will also have toilets, drinking water, charging points, changing room, passenger information boards, and a baby-feeding room.

The BMTC has also launched the 'Box-it initiative' along with the NGO DURGA. Under this move, the complaint boxes will be installed at 75 bus stations in the city.

The boxes will help women to write their complaints against harassment, poor lighting and other issues. The NGO will open the boxes once a month and will submit the petitions to the police, BMTC and BBMP.

The NGO is also conducting a 21-day gender sensitization programme under which they have already trained 150 BMTC staff.
