UP's first transgender toilet opens in Varanasi

Varanasi Municipal Corporation has opened UP's first transgender toilet which can be used only by the transgender community. Read the full news below.

In an appreciable effort to maintain cleanliness in the city while also providing the transgender community, a separate toilet, UP's first transgender toilet has been built in Varanasi.

The first transgender-only toilet has been inaugurated by Mayor Mridula Jaiswal on February 18. The toilet is situated in the Kamachha area of the city. It will prove to be helpful for the transgender community, especially those who live in proximity to Kamachha area.

The toilet has been built under the Smart City project to make sure the participation of the transgender community in maintaining cleanliness.

UP's first transgender toilet to be operated by the community itself

Moreover, the operation and maintenance of the toilet complex have also been handed over to the transgender community. On the other hand, it will be cleaned daily by the corporation staff.

The Municipal Corporation of Varanasi is also planning to build more such toilets including four of them in two to three months.

Now, this is what we call "great work!"
