In talks with LocalPreneur, Dr. Disha Dinakar on her journey of founding Digvijaya Herbals.

A family-owned & operated Digvijaya herbals Pvt. Ltd was founded in 2019 & extensively based on values that resonate with Dr.Disha Dinakar & her parents Mr.M.N Dinakar & Mrs.Vijaya Dinakar.

Dr. Disha Dinakar is currently pursuing a fellowship in Aesthetic Medicine from the University of Greifswald Germany, is a model, and has already acted in South Indian movies. But when she decided to fuse her ambitions with her mother’s passion Digvijaya was born.

Digvijaya herbals specialize in skin, hair care, health & wellness products made from the purest ingredients & high-quality raw materials.

We were in conversation with Dr. Disha Dinakar to know her journey with Digvijay Herbals.

Where did it all begin for you?

My mother and I are strong believers of organic products and their benefits. We both read every label before we purchase out of curiosity. Indian market is vast with a wide range of beauty & health products. Most of them seem aesthetically pleasing but sadly enough the labels have harmful chemical names mentioned in some corner. With too much love for authenticity, Digvijaya was born.

Can you tell us something about you?

I was born and raised in Oman, I came down to India to pursue medicine. At present, I work as a nationally approved doctor for seafarers along with which I’m pursuing a fellowship program in aesthetic medicine from the University of Greifswald Germany. Apart from this I’ve been into modelling and acted in 3 movies in the past during my medical grad.

Please share the What, When, & How of starting your brand Digvijaya herbals?

Digvijaya was born only with the vision of curating effective range of beauty, health and wellness products with nature’s gifted ingredients.

It was quite challenging at the start as we had to spend a sufficient amount of time for R and D of each and every ingredient and get the formulations right and reach out to the customers as an absolutely new brand. But from day 1 till date I personally interact with my clients.

Dr. Disha Dinakar, Can you walk us through your journey so far?

Just like every other business, the journey has been like a roller coaster with lots of ups and downs. But we are proud to say that we have a customer base in 44 countries and have launched 120 + products in the last 18months.

What are some challenges that you faced while running Digvijaya herbals?

There were quite a few challenges faced initially being given that with full-time practice I had to cater to my clients' needs and also manage with the procurement, queries, and complaints/feedback.

I’m glad that my mother stood by me as a pillar of strength due to which it made it easier to manage between my practice and business

What according to you makes Digvijaya herbals stand out amongst other brands?

No compromise on quality, we haven’t focused much on the packaging but have put in the best for the products. All our essential oils are procured from the Middle East and most of the herbal ingredients are sourced from our very own Digvijaya farm itself.

We take our customer feedback very seriously and no matter how busy I’ve been I’ve personally tried my best to cater to my clients' queries and feedback.

How are you using Social Media to promote your homegrown brand?

My primary marketing strategy has been on social media platforms. As I personally have a verified profile with a strong media presence I initially utilized the same to create an awareness of our brand

What is your 5-year plan for Digvijaya herbals?

We already have set up our distribution outlets in Singapore and Sri Lanka and we wish to expand to the Middle East in the near future. We will continue our R and D to curate and develop innovative products that are cost-effective and result oriented.

Can you share your business model with us?

We sell exclusively on our website and social media platforms. We plan on entering other E-commerce portals and offline sale this year

One advice/suggestion you’d like to give aspiring entrepreneurs out there.

Never give up on your dreams. Consistency and patience is the key to be successful. Always believe your success will be determined based on how happy you keep your clients
