Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose museum will be inaugurated on January 23, 2022, in Kolkata.

To mark the 125th birth anniversary of eminent freedom fighter Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, the Union culture ministry has planned to design a museum in Kolkata.

The ministry is also planning an exhibition at the Victoria Memorial and cultural performances in West Bengal. To discuss the preparations, Culture Minister Prahlad Singh Patel had organized a meeting with descendants of Netaji along with educationists and historians. The programmes will start from January 23, 2021, a year ahead of the 125th anniversary. However, the museum will be inaugurated on January 23, 2022, in Kolkata.

To commemorate the day, the ministry would display historical documents, photos, and other materials concerning Netaji. “It fills my heart with pride to be a citizen of Kolkata, where heritage and art are so vibrant and closely knit. It is always a pleasure to learn more about eminent figures like Netaji. I feel a well-curated museum can be a medium of passing down untaught lessons to the current era. I am looking forward to travelling back in time once I enter the museum and be enthralled by the experience,” Sulagana Sarkar, a resident of Kolkata said.

Books of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose to be reprinted

Apart from this, the government is also planning to reprint books by Netaji. As part of the commemoration, the government will also start fellowships for students. According to the plan, some Indian National Army (INA) veterans would also join to lead the parade on Republic Day.
