Last October, Bangalore was supposed to get the bus lanes in 12 corridors. The project couldn't keep up with the deadline for different reasons, one of them being the 2-month lockdown in the country. According to the reports, the first bus lane will be coming up by the end of June.

The major part of the project is complete, except for the entry and exit points of the flyover and underpasses where the traffic merges with vehicles of the service road. As per the reports, Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation is already using the bus lane at some parts of the stretch. Other vehicles are also seen on the stretch as the lane is not fully functional. In the near future, the plan is to extend the stretch to Baiyappanahalli.

Before Covid-19, the stretch used to serve almost 2.68 lakh passengers in a day. Now, the BMTC hopes for the ridership to increase multiple folds as the ORR is the center for several tech companies that employ over 10 lakh people.

We hope to see the first bus lane in Bangalore in action soon!
