After 2 months of strict lockdown, the government has allowed a few activities and services to reopen and function in many states with regulations. Every state can now make its own decisions to prohibit activities if necessary for the containment of the virus. Now, lockdown 5.0 guidelines are only for containment zones till 30th June. All the states are free to begin with a normal life but only out of containment zones.

Unlock 1: In the first re-opening, the Ministry of Home Affairs has allowed re-opening of malls, hotels, restaurants, and places of worship from 8th June. There is relaxation in curfew time as well, now it is 5:00 am to 9:00 pm, whereas previously it was 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. After, this will come a second phase, in the month of July where other activities will be allowed like the opening of institutions.

Some activities are not likely to resume anytime soon. These include international air travel of passengers, operation of Metro Rail, cinema halls, gymnasiums, swimming pools, entertainment parks, theatres, bars and auditoriums, and, social/ political/ sports/ entertainment/ academic/ cultural/ religious functions/ and other large congregations.

Here’s a list of how lockdown will play out in different states:

Delhi

Lockdown 5.0 guidelines
  • Delhi government has decided to partially open malls adhering to strict social distancing norms.
  • Malls, salons, and barbershops will open on a condition to maintain ample space between the customers.
  • The government is also checking on the probability to open hotels, restaurants, and religious spaces.
  • However, metro services are not beginning anytime soon.
  • Regarding the interstate movement, Delhi has no restrictions but borders of Ghaziabad, Gurgaon, Noida, and Faridabad are sealed.

Maharashtra

Lockdown 5.0 guidelines
  • All markets will be allowed to open except the malls from June 5 on an odd-even basis in the non-containment zone under the ‘Mission Begin Again’.
  • Hotels, restaurants, malls, and religious places will remain shut as Maharasthra extends lockdown till 30th June.
  • Maharashtra government is taking extra precautions as it is the epicenter of the novel coronavirus.

Rajasthan

  • The government and private sectors are allowed full attendance by the Rajasthan government.
  • Though the ban on religious places, hotels, and malls continues until the next phase.
  • The movement of private and commercial transport has been allowed in full capacity.
  • Ashok Gehlot government has also allowed inter and intrastate bus services but only out of the containment zones.
  • No pass or permission is required now on. Though the movement is strictly prohibited between 9:00 pm – 5:00 am across the state.

Uttar Pradesh

  • Interstate movement can now take place in Uttar Pradesh. Though, for Noida and Ghaziabad, the decision is on district administration if they want people entering from Delhi.
  • No separate pass or permission likely for people to move anymore.
  • But at the same time, people cannot move from the containment zone of Delhi.
  • Noida-Delhi borders will remain sealed.

Himachal Pradesh

  • The intrastate movement is finally allowed in Himachal.
  • Though strict social distancing needs to take place in buses as well as bus stands.
  • The buses will run with 60% of its actual capacity.

Goa

  • The Goa government is taking all the measures to revive its economy, especially the tourism sector.
  • Trains and flights have started coming to Goa from 1st June.
  • No exit permit will be given to exit Goa.

Karnataka

  • In Karnataka, the lockdown measures will remain in force till 30th June.
  • Religious places, hotels, restaurants, shopping malls will open from 8th June.

Punjab

Lockdown 5.0 guidelines
  • The places of worship have opened in Punjab besides hotels, restaurants, and shopping malls that are likely to open from 8th June.
  • Lockdown will remain in force until 30th June in containment zones.
  • There are no more restrictions on inter-state movement.
  • Movement can now take place without a pass.

Telangana

Lockdown 5.0 guidelines
  • Inter-state movement of people can take place but the lockdown has been extended in containment zones till 30th June.
  • The curfew will be from 9:00 pm to 5:00 am every day.
  • Though, the shops will remain open till 8:00 pm.

Jammu & Kashmir

Lockdown 5.0 guidelines
  • The lockdown in Kashmir is till 8th June.
  • The order requires a fresh assessment.
  • However, containment zones will be under lockdown till 30th June.

Tamil Nadu

  • The lockdown will stay in force till 30th June.
  • Though some relaxations in terms of partially opening of public transport and allowance of more employees at work.
  • Curbs on religious places and metro services will continue.
  • Tourist entry is not permitted in hilly areas of Nilgiri districts and Kodaikanal.
  • Public transport resumed with reduced buses from June 1 except in Chennai and adjoining areas.

West Bengal

Lockdown 5.0 guidelines
  • Lockdown in Bengal will go until 15th June in containment zones.
  • Other activities will start in non-containment zones.
  • The West Bengal government has allowed shooting of TV shows– but not reality shows.
  • Shopping malls, hotels, and restaurants can open from 8th June.
  • Shops selling non-essential products will also open in 46 markets from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm.
  • The industrial sector will now work with full strength.

Lockdown 5.0 guidelines bring with it huge relaxation, in terms of business and movement. Relaxation doesn’t mean the virus is not spreading. The reality is, it is spreading more rapidly than ever. People are still prescribed to stay indoors as much as possible.
