1.      Jagdish Chowk

If you are looking for exquisite gems and stone jewelry, you have hit a jackpot here. The intricate designs, precious stones set in unique molds and the traditional carvings will steal your heart away. You can customize a special stone and choose your favorite design. Won’t it be fun to try and make a unique piece for self? Since we are talking about jewels here the market does work on a higher price end. A little tip - the market is best to cover on foot or a two-wheeler.

2.      City Palace Road

The extension to the Jagdish Chowk market is the City Palace road which is decorated with a number of little shops that showcases a big collection of paintings. Some bright colors, the authenticity of the city and nature is reflected in all these paintings. They can make the best souvenir and a piece to grace your walls. The highlights of this market are the paintings with Gold and Silver work on them.

These kind of paintings are really pleasing to the eyes. Nothing less than a Museum Piece!

3.      Clock Tower

Also known as the most famous Sarafa Bazaar, this area serves as the hub for Udaipur’s Gold market. The most traditional designs are crafted by the oldest craftsmen in the business. You will find a vast variety from gold coins to gold necklaces. The shops do provide adjacent variety in silver as well.

Time: 10:30 am to 7:30 pm

4.      Maldas Street

Colorful prints, heavy work, embellished sarees - the whole extravaganza is here. The traditional Rajasthani clothing is available to you at these shops. You can look around the diverse styles. From materials to finished clothing - you will find it all.

If you keep walking down the deep streets you will encounter small shops displaying clothing materials with detailed handwork.  The golden Gota, Zari, and brocade will definitely be worth spending money on.

5.      Hathipole

This place sells handicrafts, lac bangles, handmade bags, Rajasthani turbans, puppets, wood artifacts, leather covers for diaries, etc. There are a few shops that sell amazing Juttis and shoes. You can find both simple or handworked Mojris here too. The area is easily accessible with auto rickshaws and unlike the previous markets you can check this area out on wheels too. There are a lot of handicraft emporiums established here that sell items with Meenakari and Kundan work.

6.      Bapu Bazaar

The old school market of Udaipur. Shops parallel to each other giving ample access to wide roads. From silver utensils to glass crockery to readymade clothing; the shops here have them all. Throughout the day the streets remain busy with shoppers.  

At one little corner, you may find a small perfume shop and another corner is taken by garments. If you are in a hurry but have a big shopping list, this is your go-to place.

7.      Saheliyo ki Bari

If you are an old soul and want to figure out the best antique collection in the city, you should knock the Streets of Saheliyo ki Bari. All of the items here will give you a royal touch but with a modern aesthetic. A lot of home decor items, bedsheets, and wall hangings can be checked out here. The items usually give out the feeling of the roots of the heritage and culture that the place holds. Not to miss the authentic handwork that is a result of hours and hours of craftsmen-ship.

8.      Bhuwana-Sukher Road

The shops here can interest you in some really cool marble artifacts. Beautiful white marble is crafted into numerous designs. You can find white elephants to guard your doors or Buddha statue to welcome the peace to your conscious or Krishna adorning the famous swing with a flute. Various sizes, shapes, and forms can be seen engraved and carved in the marble here. A different essence of purity speaks through the handy work of these artifacts.

Though these markets are closed for Sundays, the constant whir of shoppers is maintained throughout the week. Udaipur provides with a lot of cultural history in context to the original handcrafted work. The top items to be on your list should any day be the Mojris, the leather covers and bags, lac Bengals, and the bandhani items. The unexplored city streets offer a lot of hidden treasures once you get to know a little more about them.
